(Baldwin Park) – Matt Villasenor has resigned as the Co Head Football Coach at Sierra Vista. Co Head Coach Sergio Villasenor is expected to step down as well and will let the administration know of his decision Friday.
The Dons went 15-2 overall on the field under Villasenor in two years and 1-1 in the post season. The Dons technically finished 6-6 last year when five games were declared forfeit losses due to an ineligible player.
Sierra Vista went 3-1 in the abbreviated Spring season this year which ended with a 58-21 win over Cerritos last Friday night.
Villasenor decide to step down to pursue other opportunities.

Half true. I don’t like all the talk but at least they backed it up, can’t get all butt hurt cause they did. Cause if they went 4-6 and 2-2 nobody would care.
Sante Fe is the perfect spot for a guy like Matt. Historically SF flaunts the rules like La Serna does. Transfers and recruits are easy handled. Plus the SFS locale means they can draw players from Pico, Downey, Whittier, Norwalk and La Mirada. Matt could Have Santa Fe with a title this year.
And on year 2, fired, Has that happened before!? Check.
If true, kinda surprised SFHS would make such a move, Pierson was constantly upset and felt hindered by CIF and its rules, this doesn’t seem like it would be a long term fit, not sure if Santa Fe would be expecting instant results unless they don’t care about the transfer game and who can forget 2017 and the drama that unfolded with all the kids they pulled. The Del Rio League won’t be quite the walk in the park, you have LS who will be hard to dethrone then ER with an established program and a Cal program which seems to be rising. I guess we will wait and see
Calm down. They did all that in one year. The first year. Beat BP happen 20 years ago it happen year 1 won a playoff game happen so many years ago again year 1 won league happen so many year ago happen year 1.

It’s obvious that you don’t know the truth and the history of SV and you are talking out of your DELETED just like them. They did nothing new, SV has been there before! Yea they beat BPHS but SV beat them in 2000, they won a title but SV has 3 before that…. what part are you talking about that has never been done? Yes, the part where they stained the school by playing illegal players and losing 6 games that’s historic… that will never happen again. 1-1 in playoffs when SV has gone to the semis way before those bozos! Don’t believe the hype Ask CIF or the Tribune to pull the records.
Just be patient and wait and see the new coaching staff SV has lined up, way better than hype and bark.

Let me say this SVHS told Sergio Villasenor the dad of Matthew Villasenor that Matt can’t come back so do you blame the dad for not wanting to coach if his son isn’t allowed back?

BPHS cried to the board about Matthew and twitter etc! End of the day the board is all BPHS alumni they don’t want to see SVHS being bigger then there baby BPHS which is and they don’t like that.
Josh the AD at BP was scared of the coaching staff that’s why didn’t want to schedule them this spring! There’s an area AD that called Matthew to confirm that.
Now they are gone and the game is back LOL!!

No respect. I don’t care what good they did at SV, they left! If they really cared about the school and community then they would be in it for the long haul. Any administration that hires them is getting a short term solution to a long term problem. D1 kids are D1 no matter what. They are not the reason kids are getting scholarships, the kids are the reason. They are bad for high school sports. Good riddance.
Matt is a fool. All hype, that de that transferred to bernards was ineligible due to grades, not all surprised. Maybe the cupboard is bare and if you don’t have talent to tell what to do, you actually have to coach. Too much work for the hype boy.

Its a shame that no one is considering the players at all in this. Coach Mat has brought in recruiters that our school could have only dreamed of, given us opportunities like playing higher division schools who are also highly ranked in their respective division, has put SV’s name in rooms that we should not be in, has made us known all over the country, and put us in modern, high quality jerseys. And as for Coach V, I’m happy Coach V was thrown out. He was adamant about a dropped pass that the refs called complete for the other team. The refs tried to cheat us the entire game so who can blame him? He brought us together as not only a team but a community. He taught us to have pride and confidence, and taught us how to be better Men in all aspects of life. It was never just football to him. There is no reason anyone should be talking down on their name after the undeniable things they have done for our previously lousy program.
It seems like no one has once considered us as players. Mat brought in recruiters this school could have only wished for and turned our football program completely around as soon as they got there. Put us in great looking jerseys and gave us opportunities to play teams sv has never seen. As for coach V, he brought us together not only as a team but as a community. Tought us to have pride and confidence in everything we do. Its a shame the admin are playing with our future like this, and it’s a shame that some people would talk down on Coach Mat and Coach V. So what they didn’t go by some lousy outdated morals all the time, you can’t deny what they have done to this program though.

Recruiting is part of the game now and people have to change there views on it. Matt is coach who has good connections to the next level so kids naturally want to go to schools that have coaches who will get them to the next level. Matt got d1 coaches to go to Sierra vista they probably will not be back anytime soon to Sierra vista. Like or not Matt gets the program attention and that’s what it is about nowadays and the old timers need to get with time
I’d be shocked to see Schurr accept such a move, don’t forget the issues they just had with Oliva and the recruitment of multiple players from the area, mtb, cantwell etc.

Love how they caused trouble at their last game by his father getting kicked out. Now that he can not bring in talent and their ways have overstayed their welcome, he will be leaving. Nothing has changed from Wilson L.A.. For those of you that read this, reach out to Fred Robledo and tell him to explain what really occurred at the game vs. Cerritos since he was high and mighty on this inappropriate coaching group.
