(Arcadia)- Arcadia only scored in one inning but the four runs the Apaches put up in the sixth were more than enough to beat Northview 4-1 Saturday on Arcadia’s home field.
Arcadia was shut out through the first five innings before breaking through in the sixth. Down 1-0, Alex Dolan singled to right field with one out and stole second. Lance Wong singled to score Dolan and Devon Eskridge tripled to plate Wong.
Sal Batres pitched the first five and one-third innings for Northview but was relieved by Jacob Ramos after Eskridge’s triple. Ramos promptly walked Ari Nurhadi, hit Hunter Victorio and walked Zachary Huerta and two more runs scored. Ramos was then lifted but by then it was 4-1 Apaches and that was all she wrote.

Northview broke a scoreless tie in the top of the sixth on a controversial call. With the bases loaded and one out, Isaiah Cruz hit a looper to second base. The ball was initially caught and then appeared to be dropped as the ball was transferred however no call was made by the umpire. Nick Peoples tagged up and scored for the first run of the game.
Arcadia head coach Nick Lemas argued the call that Peoples didn’t tag up but the umpires ruled that Peoples did tag up but that Batres, who was on second did not and was ruled out, however Peoples run still counted.
Gabriel Lopez worked the first five and one-third for Arcadia and was charged with the one run. He allowed three hits and walked three. Daniel Chavez relieved Lopez in the sixth and went the final inning and two thirds to pick up the win.
The Apaches threatened in the fourth inning but Wong was thrown out at the plate after a base hit by Chavez. Northview also had a runner gunned down at home in the fifth.
Arcadia had six hits on the day against three Northview pitchers. Wong went 3 for 3.
The Apaches improved to 3-0 on the year with the victory while the Vikings dropped to 2-1.
