(Downey) – Quarterback Nico Iamaleava Jr. has transferred back to Warren from Long Beach Poly Warren head coach Kevin Pearson confirmed Monday night.

Iamaleava, class of 2023, has committed to Tennessee. He played at Warren last season and led the Bears to an 8-1 overall record and trip to the CIF Division 2 Playoffs but announced earlier this year that he would play his senior season at Long Beach Poly where he began his high school career.

Last year for Warren Iamaleava threw 33 touchdown passes and just one interception averaging nearly 14 yards per completion and completing close to 60 percent of his passes.

The season begins Thursday night August 18 with a full slate of games set for Friday August 19.

WarrenCalifornia you did not understand what I said, have been involved with the Downey – warren rivalry since the 70’s and warren could go undefeated 20 years in a row and win 20 Championships and they would still $**K.

What your saying is after Nico’s dad told Pearson and the rest of the warren bears to go f… themselves
you guys have welcomed him back. I see the standard is high over there. Forget about the other kids
and the ones you recruited and forget about your ownself, that having isa big time guy is more important than you demanding respect towards your players and your coaches. I would say winning nut tell me when the last time Warren won a play-off game.

Kenneth brown: downey hasn’t beat Warren in like 5 years. It’s Pearson city and coach Williams can’t do anything about it.

Pearson has taken over the city of downey! Wonder how Downey feels now that they are the little brother school of the city behind Warren and St. Pius .

I think of the movie Draft Day when it comes to why a coach may reject a five star QB. Said the GM “It’s a character isue with me.”

how do these schools get away with things like this and administration and CIF turn a blind eye. Very obvious example that the rules are applied to some and not others. Understand life happens but stuff like this is not good for high school ball as a whole.

What would the professional sporting scene be like if athletes were allowed to transfer to the team of their choice on a whim, like this?

There have been about 4 QB’s taking the snaps at Warren. Primarily a senior QB. Now Pearson allows a prodigal son to come back and shove a bunch of hard working guys down the totem pole. There ought to be a law or at least some moral fortitude. Oh BTW my team needs a QB. Jilted Warren QB’s welcome.
