- Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto turned down a 15-year, $440 million offer that would have made him the highest paid player in baseball.
- St. Francis is set to hire Shaun Kort as its new head baseball coach.
- Clayton Kershaw became the only pitcher in the 1961 post expansion era to be perfect through seven innings more than once in a season in the Dodgers 9-1 win over the Angels Friday night.
- Veteran cornerback Jason McCourty announced his retirement from the NFL after a 13-year career. McCourty won a Super Bowl ring with the New England Patriots in 2018.
- Offensive lineman Richie Incognito officially announced his retirement from the NFL after 15 seasons. Incognito last played for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020.
- The Baltimore Orioles selected shortstop Jackson Holliday from Stillwater High School in Oklahoma with the number one pick in the MLB draft. Holliday is the son of seven-time All-Star Matt Holliday.

I heard Fred Roggin’s report from the All-Star game at Chavez Ravine that some parking spots at the stadium are going for a cool $700. Looks like Frankie McCourt will be able to keep ahead of inflation with dollars to spare.
