(Ontario) – Upland had a big day Saturday at Colony winning both the 7 on 7 passing Tournament and the Linemen Competition.
Upland beat Colony 24-21 in the Finals to win the passing tournament. On the other side of the field the Highlanders took the Linemen Comp.

A few take always from this tournament.
I take back my comment about the IE being different. Not the same type of athletes that you saw 5-10 years ago, even Upland who dominated this tournament. I think the reason why is because so much of high school football has become top heavy and the big schools take all the talent and you’re only left with so much everywhere else else. Schools like Silverado, Kaiser, and Citrus Hill look like shells of themselves.
As for the local teams, South Hills has some decent size but not the South Hills of old.
Diamond Ranch looks as good as advertised. I didn’t see there linemen but if they’re good, they’ll be just fine.
El Rancho has some solid pieces and looked to have a pretty good day. Not enough to beat La Serna-but enough to have a good season.
Don Lugo looks like a total turn around. I’m curious how many of these guys were in the program a year ago when they went 2-8. Receivers are HUGE!
Covina looked pretty under whelming but good coaching should take them far. I didn’t like all the dancing and showboating from them though.
Baldwin Park has some very nice pieces tops #11 and #5 look like forces to be recounted with. Not sure how much depth they have though.
Watch out for Northview, lots of speed. Not very big but you know physicality will not be a problem for the Vikings under Coach Perez.
