- The Palm Springs at Monrovia game scheduled for Friday night has been canceled due to flooding in Palm Springs and freeway closures.
- El Rancho running back Anthony Orihuela ran for 231 yards and four touchdowns on 37 carries last Friday night in a 38-35 win over Don Lugo.
- Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was carted off the practice field Thursday with a right hamstring injury. He is expected to miss several weeks.
- The Dodgers are 78-48, 12.5 games ahead of the second place Arizona Diamondbacks, after a 9-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians Thursday.
- The Angels’ Shohei Ohtani will not pitch again this season after an MRI revealed a UCL tear. However he may continue to hit in their lineup.
- Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg has officially decided to retire after a 13-year career. Strasburg, who has had multiple injuries, has made just eight starts since leading the Nationals to their first World Series title in 2019.
- The San Francisco 49ers announced Sam Darnold will be the backup quarterback to Brock Purdy. Trey Lance will be third string for now.
- The Lakers plan to unveil a statue of Kobe Bryant outside of Crypto.com Arena on February 8.
