All kickoffs are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated:
Thursday October 26
Charter Oak (2-7) at Bonita (7-2)
Despite a frustrating season for Charter Oak the Chargers could make it all better with a win over Bonita. A win would put them at 2-1 and in second place in the Mountain West which could be enough for a playoff berth. The thought is nice but it won’t happen. Bonita is too strong and too athletic for the Chargers. The Bearcats will be the second place team with a big win here. Bonita rolls.
Bonita 35 Charter Oak 17
Monrovia (5-3) at San Marino (8-1)
Monrovia’s defense continues to get shredded. Last week the Wildcats allowed 22 to Pasadena Poly but prior to that they gave up 49 to La Canada, 56 to South Pasadena and over 50 earlier in the year to Northview and Bonita. If they give up that many again it will be tough to win. San Marino has a good front line and has played well on defense. The Titans held that same South Pas team that dropped 56 on Monrovia to just 7 points in a 10-7 win. Ultimately it will be another shootout but San Marino will make the necessary stops when it needs to. San Marino wins the Rio Hondo.
San Marino 35 Monrovia 28
Diamond Ranch (7-2) at Northview (8-1) (Covina District Field)
Diamond Ranch stumbled last week to San Dimas while Northview continues to roll. The Vikings look like the best team in the Valle Vista as well one of the best in the entire SGV. A couple of weeks ago Los Altos took Diamond Ranch to overtime before losing 14-7. Last week Northview beat the Conquerors 48-13. The Vikings are at another level. Northview wins the Valle Vista.
Northview 31 Diamond Ranch 14
Wilson (8-1) at Baldwin Park (4-5)
Baldwin Park, like Charter Oak, can save its season with a victory. The Braves are 3-6 on the field overall (4-5 with a forfeit) but are 2-0 in the Mt. Baldy with wins over Montclair and Sierra Vista. A win here and they will be undefeated league champions. But it will be a tall task. Wilson has won five straight on the field (eight straight with a forfeit) and is playing good football. The Wildcats have been racking up the points as well as the wins. It will be an offensive battle as both teams can score but in the end Wilson spoils the BP party. Wildcats win.
Wilson 38 Baldwin Park 35
Friday October 27
Schurr (8-1) at Montebello (4-5)
One of the best rivalries in the area with the two schools being maybe a nine iron apart. With the players on both teams knowing each other so well the emotions are always high. With that being said this might be a tough night for Montebello- the Montebello Oliers that is. Schurr hasn’t lost since August 18th, and that was to a solid South Pasadena team. The Spartans have ripped off eight straight wins since and have been having a blast in the process. Schurr has scored 50 or more points four times and once scored over 60. The Oilers won’t be able to make enough stops. Spartans win big.
Schurr 42 Montebello 13
Claremont (1-8) at Don Lugo (3-6)
Don Lugo is yet another team that can salvage its season with a win. The Conquistadores were 1-6 coming into San Antonio League play but have scored 93 points in their last two games to win two straight, including last week’s 41-40 win over a good West Covina team. Claremont just won its first game last week, 17-12 over Chaffey. We know Don Lugo’s offense is explosive and in this one the defense will make enough stops. Don Lugo finishes the season 4-6 overall but 3-0 in league and will be crowned San Antonio champs. Conquistadores get the W.
Don Lugo 45 Claremont 27
San Dimas (5-4) at Los Altos (5-4)
Big game in the Valle Vista. San Dimas trying to go 2-1 in league while Los Altos needs to get its first league win. The Saints got a big win last week over Diamond Ranch while the Conqs were run over by Northview. San Dimas will bring that same approach. The Saints will run it until the wheels fall off. Eventually they will wear Los Altos down. Caleb Morquecho is on fire. Saints run their way to the victory.
San Dimas 24 Los Altos 17
Whittier Christian (6-3) at Maranatha (8-1)
This reminds me of one of those old Olympic League battles. Maybe Andrew Elffers will throw a clutch touchdown pass for Maranatha or Jeff Worthy will come up with a big stop for Whittier Christian. Well that was the Olympic and this is the Cottonwood. And this year both teams are 4-0 in league and will play for the Cottonwood title Friday night. Maranatha has scored 105 points in its last two games and the Minutemen haven’t lost in a minute…well since August 24th. They have won seven straight since. Whittier Christian has also been rolling in league and has won six consecutive games. The scoreboard operator will get a workout as both teams can light it up. The game is at the bounce and pounce so we will give Maranatha the home field advantage…and the victory. Maranatha takes the Cottonwood.
Maranatha 41 Whittier Christian 24

That’s a feeder program that gets poached by Schurr, Amat, Montebello etc. SG gets what is left of it
SG has a great feeder program.
@Spartan
Those are not excuses. Those are facts. You can spin in how you like but it’s the truth. I’ve been associated with MHS for over 40 years now. I’ve seen the good and bad. This is a bad year for us. I’m just stating the facts. Ramos is DELETED. No other way to spin it. Do you think Ken Davis, Negrette and even the Coach from 07 would do the things Ramos is doing ? Never in a million years. They played with home grown talent.
Anyways, good luck to both teams tonight. MHS will play hard and be back. Hopefully soon!! Lol
@OilerNation
Already complaining about transfers, and making up excuses as to why Montebello will lose tonight like the game has already been played. At least pretend like the oilers have a chance tonight, but based on the results from the freshman game, jv game, and we’ll even throw in the girls flag football game it will be a tough night for the oiler nation. DELETED. With that being said hop off your high horse and take tonight loss with some kind of pride.
We got it.

October 26, 2023 – 12:08 pm are you concluding ‘CIF second round’ is no good? Heck of lot better than non=playoff teams. And I agree D13 , 14 etc is made up of much weaker teams (how else could Arroyo baseball win CIF Championship? Decades ago MVL was one of the best leagues in Division 2 and 3) but CIF draws it up and schools play within! I wouldn’t mind second round, but of course in much better division
M1A2 Abrams tank job tonight
Ha, of course sg recruits. You have to be blind or ignorant to deny that fact. They have a history of doing this.
Ranch 18 officially put a fork in his season ?
No more exorbitant predictions ?
Hey bud , you have one game left!
Shs qb wasnt a starter either
@ Anon,
The Qb transfer from LS was 4th string at best. He wasn’t a starter like the ShS Qb. All you people do is condone bad behavior. But you will see soon enough how Karma works for you. MHS will take it lumps this year and move on and SHS will lose in 2nd round as always. So yes it was a proper transfer with a real move of address from the family. He also sat out the required amount of games. Love and die by the rules.
@Bassett Dad
Sierra Vista won a game by forfeit, should that be enough to put them in the playoffs?
And you think the Montebello transfer from La Serna resides in Montebello? Pfft… wrong. It was Definitely football motivated cause he knew he had 2 to 3 Qbs ahead of him and it was already his jr year. He had to move and FAST. BUT it happenes EVERYWHERE, idk why everyones chonies are in a bunch.
@ Anonymous,
Actually, I’d be willing to bet that the programs and teaching offered at Montebello isn’t all that far off from La Serna.
Public school teachers in California have to teach the same content standards and receive their teaching credentials from the same places. Now, are there more kids in AP classes in higher affluent areas like La Serna than there are in lower socio economic areas such as Montebello? Sure. Why? Because there is more parent involvement and there is more parent and more parents who have college degrees who value education.
But don’t get it twisted, there are GREAT educators and programs at darn near every public school.
They also all get the cafeteria food from the same vendors.
So it was not football motivated so he transfer from La Serna for the Montebello High School academics or the cafeteria food.
You’re right he went to Montebello because of the esteemed academic institutions it is. Their education is far better than La sernas, his transfer was an educational based decision lmao
I’d say SG, San Marino and South Pasadena don’t recruit San Dimas?. Maybe arroyo? Idk I could be wrong. SG looks content with winning the local area and making noise in d13/14 every year. Not a bad thing especially if they not bringing in kids.
@Anon,
FYI, you have bigger problems than worrying about what Pete is doing? Your spelling is atrocious like your remarks… You must be a Schurr High graduate. I have absolutely no idea what you’re trying to spew out.
To a certain level every school recruits and not necessarily done by coaches. In my opinion most is done behind the scenes by parents and players.
@truth?
He transferred from LS. He wasn’t offered an address or falsified any documents for an address. Kids do transfer all the time but this wasn’t football motivated like Schurr.
You can sit there and try to justify it but we all know the sneaky garbage Ramos will do. That’s the only way he can win.
Oiler nation 🤣🤣 Joke nice to hang your hat on NOTHING FOO! Pete the Cheap is the creap of all creaps! JOKER! every time that foo has a transfer. Who signs off RAMOS. NOW if SHS does have a transfer!! GUESS what it don’t HAPPEN !! The Leprechaun.!! IS A CHEAP!!! SHS
FRESHMAN 50-0 VARSITY IS GONNA BE EVEN WORSE!!! 🤣🥳🔥
That Whittier redskins coach is as dirty as they come. Everyone knows the qb don’t reside in Montebello. Better not get bounced early again.
Oiler nation where did your QB come from LMI or La Serna. Like I said calling the kettle black.
Question
Why are there so many games on Thursday? Are the kids and school administrators preparing for Halloween?
RIP the Great Pumpkin Ray Solari.
Kettle?
You mean to tell me that Pete and Ramos practice the same methods ? Get real. As I recall about 5 -6 years ago Ramos had about 5 kids ruled ineligible because of CIF violations. He basically sacrificed all these kids eligibility for greed. It got him nothing.
Karma is going to get him again for sure. It’s just a matter of time.
This rivalry should be about the city of Montebello and not other kids transferring in. If Ramos wants to win that way then more power to him. But let it be know, no coach in the surrounding area will respect him as a peer. They all know his snake slithering ways. It’s just not him though. Some of his coaches do the dirty work for him. Pretty sad if you ask me.
It’s just too bad that this can’t be settled like it used to be. Ramos needs help and he goes and gets it. Pathetic…
@ Greg cano
Lol !!!!
Spade a spade that’s funny please tell me a program in the area that is not doing or trying to do the same to win. Please don’t say montebello. Pete is the master of talking to kids and making them transfer but he is also the first guy that will jump on the phone and start whining If a player check in to another school. The list of players he got from other school is very very long.
San Dimas 21
Los Altos 24
Without publicity stunts for the coaches at Wilson by Tim or the other newspapers, Wilson will rock the second team in Baldwin Park, that includes a “State Champion Coach,” that may I add, will not reach CIF playoffs with still one game to go. Baldwin Park’s Maxies with all the hype from Tim and Robledo and all the recruits he apparently took to BP. No one is saying anything like when we were back in June… Tim, Bark, Bark, Bark. Wilson will own the city of Baldwin Park and will finish first in League.
From T. Peterson: Not sure what you’re reading or what I hyped but I took Wilson. Simply look above in Game Night. ^^
*Ganesha
Bassett has a 5-4 record 0-2 in league does a win against GameShark get them in the playoffs
Wilson!!? When did Wilson become competitive in football again?
Is it true that Ramos poached more kids from other schools this year? Especially the starting QB? How does he continue to get away with it? Does he or the school administration have any morals? Clearly they don’t. IMO, SHS will never have a true reputation of a football school. How hard is it to win when you use other schools kids? Some coaches get a bad rap but Ramos and his staff take it to another level. They will get smashed come playoffs because of the seeding they will get. Karma is a real thing. Someone should protest at the school and really hold Ramos and staff accountable…
@ anonymous Wilson
That’s the attitude! Get some !!!
The southeast corner of the Schurr plant,(Wilcox and Westmoreland) to the northwest corner of the Montebello plant(girl’s softball field,next to DMV) is reachable with a driver.
‘Jus sayin’.
I think it’s “Can BP hang with Wilson”
#WarWildcats
Tiger
Did you ever see Tin Cup? Same thing here. Tee off at Schurr. Ball would roll down Wilcox. Into a DELETED! HOLE!! AKA: oilers back yard! 🤣
S P A R T A N S!!!
O I L E R S ! O I L E R S !
I understand the vernacular, but if anybody in the area can hit a golf ball from Montebello to Schurr high with a 9 iron, well, we’ve got to get them into the pro ranks ASAP. Come to think of it, this should be the halftime challenge, with the successful competitor winning an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii (courtesy of MVS).
Can Wilson hang with Baldwin Park? Exciting game ! Charter Oak with the upset of the year !!!
