(La Verne) – Bonita quarterback Daniel Mielke II is transferring to Ontario Christian multiple sources confirmed Saturday.
As a freshman last year, Mielke, who stands 6’4″, threw for 2,483 yards and 21 touchdowns with six interceptions last year leading Bonita to an overall record of 9-3 and trip to the second round of the CIF Division 5 playoffs. The Bearcats beat Northview 21-20 in the first round before falling to Thousand Oaks 19-13 in Round Two.
Mielke is currently the #2 ranked quarterback in California for the Class of 2027 and #10 in the country.
In Texas high school football and most states this kid would have to wait a year(365 days) to play for transfering even to a private. Not here in CIF run football. It’s the wild wild west. The Warren QB that started for Tennessee on Sunday already has a million and more in his pocket the announcers made clear. I wonder if he is sharing with his team. Would not be surprised if he entered the portal. That is what transfering QB’s are looking for.
Matt V. and Nogales will let hi!
Send your kids wherever you want. Daniel is a fantastic person. If they want to go somewhere else more power to them. Do what’s best for your family.
Talk about undue influence Bonita has two more starters leaving for OC.
The kid is 17 yrs old and a freshman WOW.
OC will probably not be his last school. Sad how kids just hop around these days but you have to blame the parents. Good luck.
It was pretty clear that this young man wasn’t exactly fully bought in on being a Bearcat and it was obvious that the true and tried Bonita folks weren’t all that thrilled about having a double hold back starting freshmen QB. There wasn’t exactly an Andrade family type of loyalty.
Is this true ? Thats pushing age limit to the max! You’re telling us he will be 20 when he graduates? Mid year graduation?
This is common tactic of parents of QB “prospects” , that find themselves transferring through 3or 4 different schools searching for best “ opportunities”.
Ontario Christian has been solid program for years , last couple some of best ever and they’re looking to challenge Aquinas for IE supremacy
But don’t blame the kid , typically responding to family pressures. There’s a lot of kids at bigger programs sitting on the bench who came from smaller schools where they would be starters maybe stars , but left because parents think their scholarship more likely from bigger factory program. It sucks getting poached , I’ve just gotten used to it .
Can you be 16 0r 17 years old and still be considered a freshmen and play frosh football? This crap is getting ridiculous. To DO is OC moving up or down?
Little do people know he is 17years old. Good luck at Ontario Christian my friend we are better off without you.
The assumption here is that by moving to a private school, this kid will boost his stock with scouts. Well Gee, how did he manage to get ranked so high in the state/national polls at Bonita? Is Steve Bogan not a good mentor, and are those scouts not aware of a player’s value wherever he/she plays?
Wow
Ontario Christian moving up in the world !
