Mustangs Run Wild, 53-0

(Pasadena) – The John Muir Mustangs used their “Quick-Strike” abilities to defeat the visiting Crescenta Valley Falcons, 53-0, Friday evening in front of their home-town fans, in, and around, the Muir High School Football Field.

The Mustangs wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, as quarterback Keyon Mills scored on a 39-yard run on the third play of the game. A successful Jacob Hernandez PAT attempt made the score 7-0, with 11:06 remaining in the opening quarter.

Muir’s second score was provided by Alijah Parker, who cashed in on a 58-yard TD dash. Another successful Hernandez PAT made the score 14-0 with 4:28 to play in the first quarter.

The Mustangs added their third touchdown of the evening when Mills connected with Noah Bozeman for a 61-yard scoring strike. Hernandez’s third successful extra point made the score 21-0, as the first quarter came to a close.

The Mustangs scored three more time in the second quarter. The first coming on a “double-pass” play that went from Mills to Zion McDonald, then from McDonald to Bozeman for a 68-yard touchdown. The second score of the quarter was again provided by Parker, who found pay-dirt on a 25-yard carry.

The third score, also provided by Parker, came on an 80-yard blast. Three more successful Hernandez kicks made the score 42-0 as the opening half came to a close.

Muir added an additional score in the third quarter when McDonald scored on a 74-yard “end-Around’. Mills added the 2-Point PAT, making the score 50-0, as the third quarter ended. The Mustangs added a Field Goal in the fourth quarter as Hernandez was successful on a 22-yard attempt for the final points of the night.

Muir’s next contest is on Thursday night when the Mustangs will take their 2-0 Pacific League record on the road to play the Arcadia Apaches. Crescenta Valley’s next game is on Friday night when the Falcons travel to Glendale to battle the Nitros. Kickoff for both contests is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
