Not a lot of movement this week as several teams had byes. Northview continues to dominate and Charter Oak had a big win as well. St. Paul, Bishop Amat and La Serna all struggled against tough opponents. Muir looks better every week while Rio Hondo Prep suffered its first defeat. San Dimas jumps Monrovia with a rout of the Wildcats.
- Damien (3-2) – Baseline League starts this week for Spartans.
2. Bonita (5-0) – Bearcats open Sierra League with Glendora.
3. Downey (4-1) – Vikings may not be tested until Week 10 against Mayfair.
4. Northview (5-0) – Vikes average margin of victory is over 29 points.
5. Charter Oak (4-1) – Chargers enjoy a weekend vacation to San Diego.
6. St. Paul (2-3) – Swordsmen have lost three straight since win over Bishop Amat.
7. Bishop Amat (2-3) – Lancers need a win this week against Notre Dame in Mission League.
8. Mayfair (3-2) – Monsoons will begin league play with a win over Bellflower.
9. La Serna (3-3) – Lancers fall to Edison but won’t lose another regular season game.
10. Muir (3-2) – Nobody will touch the Mustangs in the Pacific.
11. Rio Hondo Prep (5-1) – Kares lose first game to defending CIF Division 10 champions Torrance.
12. San Dimas (4-1) – Julian Vigil does everything except drive the bus.
Wow so no ice machine or water for the kids. Who’s uncharge for these items to get fixed. I also hear the principal is charging the baseball team to use there field on the weekends. Doesn’t the coaches and kids do the matinance on field. Community please stand up it’s time for change fire the principal and AD……
Monrovia school board randy bell didn’t do a bad job compared to this ad. Question have any principals at Monrovia ever been suspended for a game? Please take notice it’s time to turn the page on this principal. Please bring in a ad who’s not afraid to fix the icemachine or water for the athletes. He’s a AD first not a football coach………
Over the Top and Monrovia,
Indeed beyond embarrassing! So let me get this straight, you’ve got a program that has a student or students doing independent online courses while partaking in sports at MHS. You’ve got a Principal who makes academic changes without proper research and does not inform MHS staff and families of these changes, which altered have academic paths. And has been placing unnecessary obstacles to some sports programs for reasons that he and District administration cannot truthfully answer.
I hope District administration is taking note, especially when the Superintendent used to be a CIF-SS President. Talk about promoting equity, quality, character, and academic development.
Teams in D 1 thru D3 dont need to win. The way Cal Preps and CIF arranged the divisions all those teams get a playoff spot somewhere. Last year D3 Charter Oak a 2-8 team got a spot in D10 I think. So Teams like Amat don’t need to win. They nwill just bounce out a little team that deserved a spot in the lower divisions. Look for St. Francis 0-5 to be in D13 this season and win a bunch of rings.
From T. Peterson: Charter Oak was in D8 last year.
Yes principal got kicked out of game at don lugo. The game was held up until he left the field..
CIF said they have a back up plan in place. Well what is it? Is it like the better plan politicians say they have but never reveal or enact? That kind of back up plan? You can bet cash in being exchanged in a lot of backrooms today.
@ Tim
Why do you say Amat needs a win?
Yes, he was verbally abusing referees in the game at Don Lugo. Team was given penalty and he was dismissed from the field as I understand. It . He had been warned in a previous game. I thoughts they were supposed to demonstrate good sportsmanship????
Wait, wait, wait, wait!!! What do you mean by the Monrovia Principal serving a one game suspension for arguing with a ref?!!!
Hey Peterson…..Blow thr dust off your wallet and buy Cal Preps. No where to go for high school football addicts for detailsin one spot.
CIF saying they didn’t rely on one source , meaning CalPreps, and they have other measures on tap. They have a relationship
To truth similar to
Politicians . This means more room for biased treatment of favorites by that supposedly unbiased organization.
Tim is right, La Serna will not lose another regular season game. Having their Cal Preps rating drop can work to La Serna’s advantage. They could drop to D4 or D5, both of which are winnable divisions for them.
This CalPreps shutdown is no joke ! What are they gonna do ? They have to create playoffs within some kind of structure; this is what CIF had planned to use . Now what ???
Monrovia football team gave up Friday night. Having a bye week the week before really took a discipline team for granted. The coaches for Monrovia looked out coached no discipline on Monrovia sidelines players going after each other. The principal serving a one game suspension for arguing with a ref. The cats don’t have a running back no speed at reciever is this really Monrovia football…….
The Del Rio will be dead soon anyway. Quit whining Mr. Watcher.
Interesting. With Cal Preps going bankrupt this AM it reinforces my claims that something very hinky going on especially in the rankings. With millions maybe billions at stake in NIL cash for high schools these rankings and maybe even taking a dive or two in order to improve your ranking or even getting your team out of a tough playoff division is tempting to programs . I expect Max Prwps next to go as they are in cahoots with Cal Preps.
La Serna not losing another game says nothing. In fact their Cal Preps rating might drop by going undeafeted in league. LS in the Del Rio a total joke.
From T. Peterson: The Del Rio might be a joke in your opinion but it’s still a fact – La Serna will not lose another regular season game.
