(West Covina) – Northview jumped out to a 21-0 lead at halftime and never let up in a 35-0 rout of West Covina in the final regular season game Thursday night at West Covina High.

The Northview defense dominated from start to finish and never allowed the Bulldogs to breathe. West Covina punted on five of their first seven possessions and on the last one the game clock ran out. The Vikings shut down the passing attack and the running game as West Covina never established any momentum.

Meanwhile Northview’s offense converted on big plays and long drives. Aaron Guillen scored on the Vikings first possession as he broke off a 40-yard touchdown run to cap a 76-yard, six-play drive.

Northview’s next drive was stalled by penalties but on the next series the Vikes struck again. After forcing a West Covina punt, Northview marched 68 yards on six plays. Jaishon “Meatball” Bledsoe rolled 25 yards for a touchdown with 9:01 left in the second quarter.

On the next possession the Vikings were on a short field setting up at the West Covina 46-yard line. Eight plays later they were in the end zone again. Manny Garcia caught an 11-yard pass from Robert Lucero to cap it and make it 21-0 late in the second quarter. Northview was up 21-0 at the break.

Guillen got his second score of the night on a four-yard jaunt to finish a 74-yard, eight-play drive in the third quarter as the Vikes kept cruising.

Northview started the running clock with 10:37 left in the fourth quarter as Bledsoe got loose again taking a pass from Lucero and going 40 yards for a score.

Guillen finished with 134 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. Lucero threw for two scores and Bledsoe ran for a touchdown and had one receiving.

Elias Irvin had just 49 yards passing for West Covina and Gabriel Murillo had 34 yards to lead the rushing attack as the Bulldogs weren’t able to get on the board.

With the victory Northview finished the season at 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the Valle Vista. West Covina also finished 8-2 and 4-1 in league. Alta Loma (4-1 in league) beat San Dimas 28-7 creating a three-way tie for first place.

Now both teams will find out where they land in the post season as the CIF Southern Section playoff pairings are announced Sunday.
