Not many changes this week as everybody won except Bonita who lost to a higher ranked team in Charter Oak. Bishop Amat jumped ahead of the Bearcats with a nice win over Serra. Interesting first-round CIF playoff pairings as we head into the post season.
- Downey (9-1) – Vikings wrap up Gateway with rout of Dominguez.
- Charter Oak (9-1) – Chargers look ready for playoffs with an impressive win over Bonita.
- Damien (8-2) – Spartans wrap up regular season by taking care of Ayala.
- Muir (9-1) – Mustangs win Turkey Tussle; will now tussle with Charter Oak.
- Bishop Amat (6-4) – Lancers right where they want to be with first round home game.
- Bonita (6-4, 7-3 on field) – Nice local matchup with Northview in first round.
- Rio Hondo Prep (10-0) – Kares go 10-0 and get sent to Thousand Oaks for their effort.
- Northview (8-2) – Aaron Guillen makes the running attack go.
- La Serna (7-3) – Another season, another Del Rio League title.
- Los Altos (10-0) – Conquerors go 10-0 and get sent to Upland for their effort.
- Rowland (10-0) – Raiders get home game against San Dimas in first round.
- La Canada (9-1) – Nice season for Spartans. They will hit the road for West Covina.
Many schools websites state, tickets available on GoFan only. So we pay the fee, and when we get to the gate, they are selling paper tickets. BS.
CIF’s home field assignments don’t make any sense, but I’ll tell you what makes dollars: this bothersome GoFan ticketing scam. Used to be that CIF only made money on playoff games, but now they get a nice cut of EVERYTHING, including preseason stuff. I could almost accept this arrangement, were it not for the ‘convenience fee’ they tack on to every ticket. Excuse me, but if there’s no other way to buy game tickets, how can this be called convenient? Convenience is a comparative term, meaning it is easier or quicker than the alternative. CIF allows no ticket buying alternative whatsoever.
@ Anonymous & CIF Makes No Sense: Is it CIF’s idea of trying to be “fair?” That’s been their justification for often having teams with the better records play on the road in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds.
How does Downey only lose to the #4 Team in the southern section and have to travel to a 1-9 team that played ineligible players?
a saw crazier one in Div 2 San Juan Hills 1-9 at large vs Downey 9-1, and Downey is on the road. looks like white privilege. CIF how do you explain this?
A league championship and an undefeated regular season can still earn you a road game in the first round of the playoffs. Way to go, CIF!
