(Pasadena) – Maranatha quarterback Cooper Berry has transferred to Cathedral Maranatha head coach Rand Holdren confirmed Wednesday.

Berry threw for 2,669 yards and 27 touchdowns last year as a junior. He led the Minutemen to an overall record of 7-4. Maranatha lost to Baldwin Park in the first round of the CIF Division 11 playoffs.

Berry should be in line to start at Cathedral. Last year’s starter for the Phantoms, Jaden Jefferson, transferred to Corona Centennial.

is it really bad ( please know I have not put any time into this , so if my suggestion is off base, then you can correct me) that /Carson Palmer is loving his new coaching job helping young student athletes play and move towards their potential?

I would like to think that 90% of high school athletes still have community and school pride. Unfortunately the other 10% are the ones who get the recognition and articles. Tim is just doing his job, but perhaps the Sondheimers, Robledo’s, Peterson’s, and “Mark the Shark”‘s (what an odd dude giving himself a nickname) of the world need to start focusing more on the 90% and less of the look at me culture. The same goes doubly for coaches who brag about the transfers they get.

So bad. This is what’s wrong with HS football.

This is just another move on the lower level of privates. The biggest question on the top level of H.S. football is: will anybody be able to catch up with what Carson Palmer is doing at Santa Margarita? Jason Negro of Bosco is hot on the trail along with Raul Lara of Mater Dei, while three new coaches at Servite, O-Lu and JSerra will give it their best shot. It’s crazy, because the brand of football being played at these elite schools is good enough to topple many small college teams.
