Charter Oak’s Frankie Robles.

By George Hernandez

[Covina] – I sat down with Charter Oak hit machine Frankie Robles who has burst onto the scene this season batting .573 with .607 on base percentage 22 RBIs and 43 hits, which is second in school history, with four games left.

Q: What’s up kid, how’s it going?

A: What’s up Big George, doing good.

Q: You’re having a great season so far at the plate batting over .570. Did you see this happening?

A: I just want to thank God for giving me this opportunity to play baseball, and giving me a chance to show what I can do. I just put trust in my skills and do me.

Q: How long have you been playing baseball, and what positions have you played?

A: I’ve been playing baseball for 11 years now. I’ve always been a middle infielder and pitched when I was younger.

Q: Who do you model your game after?

A: I model my game after myself. I want to become a better version of me.

Q: How would your teammates and coaches describe you?

A: They would describe me as an energetic person and hardworking.

Q: How far do you think this team can go?

A: This team is very special. Our team chemistry is like no other. We’ve been through the ups and downs and we always play for each other. This team can go far in playoffs.

Q: What is the biggest lesson you have learned from baseball so far?

A: Biggest lesson for me is learning how to fail. In the game of baseball you’re going to fail. You just have to trust God and trust yourself to come back and do better.

Q: How do you handle the pressure of playing in high stakes games?

A: High pressure games make me play better, knowing that everyone is watching you.

Q: I know you’re only a junior but what are you goals for after high school? Do you want to keep playing?

A: If I’m given the opportunity I would want to play baseball in the future. I would want to go to college for business.

Q: Anything else you would like to say or want us to know?

A: I want to thank my parents for giving me this opportunity and never giving up on me. One other thing I want to say is The Ortiz era is here.

Love you kid, keep doing great!
