1. Arcadia’s Tyler Brereton has committed to Pomona-Pitzer to further his academic and baseball career. Brereton hit .338 with three home runs and 19 RBI for the Apaches last season.
2. Former LA Kings star Eddie “The Jet” Joyal passed away at the age of 88.
3. The Miami Dolphins signed All-Pro linebacker Jordyn Brooks to a three-year, $51 million extension.
4. The Boston Red Sox -Baltimore Orioles game Tuesday night was postponed due to rain. The Red Sox winning streak remains at 14 games.
5. “Dude, at least stick it. You know what I mean?” -New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh after running back Cam Skattebo’s failed backflip went viral.
6. The Lakers signed forward Matisse Thybulle to a one-year, $3.3 million deal. Thybulle was a two-time All-Defensive team member with the Portland Trail Blazers.
7. Justin Wrobleski threw six and 1/3 innings and allowed just one run in the Dodgers 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday night.
8. Yaxel Lendeborg scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 94-90 win over the Memphis Grizzlies Sunday in the NBA Summer League championship game in Las Vegas.
9. Fox announced Tuesday that the Spain-Argentina World Cup final drew 38.937 million viewers which set the record as the most-watched English-language soccer telecast in U.S. history.
10. Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel will step down at the end of the calendar year, the university announced on Monday. The school also said that an investigation revealed that although there were scandals in the athletic department that the issues were not “widespread.”
