(Pasadena) – The John Muir Mustangs used their “Quick-Strike” abilities to defeat the visiting Crescenta Valley Falcons, 53-0, Friday evening in front of their home-town fans, in, and around, the Muir High School Football Field.

Damien lost but when the opponent is JSerra that’s a tall mountain to climb. Bonita moved up with a big win over Kaiser while Northview and St. Paul stood pat. Charter Oak jumped up a spot with Bishop Amat’s loss. Rio Hondo remains unbeaten while Muir jumps Monrovia by routing Burbank in the Pacific League opener.

(La Verne) Victor Santa Cruz, who previously coached nearby as the head coach of the Azusa Pacific Cougars football team, brought his J Serra Catholic Lions north to take on the Damien Spartans in both teams final tune-up before league play begins. Santa Cruz’s Lions handled their business to the tune of a 49-21 trouncing of the Spartans Friday night at Damien High School.

Glendora — With the ball placed at the 16-yard line and less than three seconds left in regulation, the Temple City Rams’ defense shut down any attempt for a game-tying touchdown as they stuffed Azusa quarterback Juan Tapia Jr. from reaching the end zone, sealing the 20-14 win on a chilly Friday night at Citrus College.
