What a Rush! Kares Headed to Finals!

By Tim Peterson (Baldwin Park) – Rio Hondo Prep rushed for 463 yards and six touchdowns and ran over West Torrance 42-21 in the process at Kare Park Friday night in the CIF Division 7 Semi-Finals. The Kares earned a trip to their second consecutive CIF Championship game with the resounding victory.

Second Half Run Propels Golden Eagles Over Cougars

By Tim Peterson (Azusa) – Cal State LA went on a 15-0 run in the second half to break open a tight game and went on to beat Azusa Pacific 70-49 Thursday night at Felix Event Center.

Dobbins’ Run Does it for Chargers, 34-27

By Tim Peterson (Inglewood) -J.K. Dobbins broke off a 29-yard touchdown run with 18 seconds left to lift the Chargers to a 34-27 win over Cincinnati Sunday night before 70, 240 fans at SoFi Stadium.

Cougars Fast Start Doesn’t Hold up in Loss to Western Washington

By Tim Peterson (Azusa) – Azusa Pacific jumped out to a 13-4 lead but Western Washington bounced back to take a 40-37 lead at the half and went on to beat the Cougars 88-82 Saturday night at Felix Event Center.

Maiava’s Debut is a Success for USC

By Tim Peterson (Los Angeles) – Jayden Maiava threw for three touchdowns and ran for one in his first start for USC to lead the Trojans to a 28-20 win over Nebraska Saturday at the LA Memorial Coliseum.

Bonita’s Undefeated Run Ends with Edison

By Tim Peterson (La Verne) – Edison’s offense did enough and the defense did the rest in a 24-0 shutout of previously unbeaten Bonita Friday night in the second round of the CIF Division 3 playoffs at Bonita High School.

Hagerty Resigns at Bishop Amat

By Tim Peterson (La Puente)- Steve Hagerty has resigned as the head football coach at Bishop Amat after 17 years he announced Friday. Hagerty released a statement that said in part that “It was simply time for new leadership. I no longer believe that I am the guy to lead this program.”
