(Mid Valley Sports had a short Questions & Answers exchange with Steve Bogan, here’s part of it.)
Q & A with former South Hills HC Steve Bogan
The Mid: Hey Coach what’s the deal with the Trib getting the story first?
Bogan: Very sorry about the Tribune part, but anything I can do I will. Just let me know. I’ll answer any question as best I can.
The Mid: What was your thought process on stepping down?
Bogan: My way of seeing what I think I am doing is a “sabbatical.” I hope I was following the leading of the Lord but am confident that if I wasn’t He can reroute me. He is the God of many chances, and where He leads I will follow.
What I try to be is a Christian who is a coach, not a coach who happens to be a Christian. So when I believe God is telling me to take a rest and spend time with Him, I try and do it. There are lots of folks who the Lord could get to do what I was doing. I hear Him saying that He wants more of me – actually ALL of me. That doesn’t mean I am going to be a monk, or that I wasn’t committed to Him, but that I need to step away and spend more uncluttered time with Him. At the end of the day the Lord wants us, not what we do.
The Mid: Are there any offers on the table?
Bogan: I have no other offers, and will simply trust that He holds my future – because He does.
The Mid: Will you miss being away from the players?
Bogan: Heck, everyday 140 other seniors come to my American Government classes, so I am still in the “people processing business.”
