(Occidental College) – Bishop Diego forced four turnovers including a pick six in a 28-14 victory over Village Christian Friday night at Jack Kemp Stadium.
Christian Pearson returned an interception 77 yards and B.J. Murrillo also picked off three passes to thrwart the Crusaders. Pearson’s third quarter interception gave Bishop Diego a 21-7 lead and more importantly stopped a Village Christian drive.
Jack Gregson’s four yard touchdown run with just over three minutes left in the game sealed it for the Cardinals.
For Gregson it was his second touchdown of the game. He also scored earlier in the contest on a five yard run. Abel Gonzalez got the Cards on the board first with a 19 yard run and an Enzo Troiani field goal gave Bishop Diego an early 9-0 advantage.
Jesse Henckel hit Roman Arteaga on a 39 yard touchdown pass to get Village Christian within 9-7 at the half.
Gabe Molina Aidan Williams on a 39 yard pass play to ge the ball deep into Village territory. Three plays later Gregson scored for a 15-7 lead. The defense took over from there.
Bishop Diego improved to 12-0 on the year and advances into the semi finals to take on North Torrance who eliminated Gladstone.
