Friday December 6

Mid-Valley Division

Paraclete (9-4) at San Dimas (9-4)

Last Meeting: 11-23-2012: CIF Playoffs Semi-Finals: Paraclete 28-20

San Dimas continues to roll…and roll…and roll. Another game, another 60 point bomb for the Saints. Last week against Arroyo, San Dimas racked up an almost unheard of 600 plus yards rushing in a 61-28 rout. The thing is Paraclete is not Arroyo. In fact Paraclete isn’t any of the teams that the Saints have faced over the last nine weeks. The defense is stellar and the offense with Melquise Stovall does enough to win games. But can the Spirits make enough stops to win? Joseph Mayorga, Fausto Martinez and company might be shut down for awhile but in the end they’ll break through. Saints win it in the fourth.

Southeast Division

Norwalk (13-0) at La Serna (11-2) at Cal State Fullerton

Half way through the season it became apparent that Norwalk was doing something special. Jesse Ceniceros’ team has met every challenge put in front of them and here they are in the Finals without a loss. Rashaad Penny has been off the charts good and the rest of the team isn’t too bad either. What was impressive last week was Norwalk’s ability to come back. Down 28-14 at the half, the Lancers held Muir scoreless in the second half to win 35-28. For Frankie Palmer and La Serna it’s the third straight trip to the Southeast Finals. They would like nothing better to finally come out on top. They have the talent and ability to do it. The offense with Palmer is solid, and the defense makes stops when it needs to. If anybody other than Norwalk was the opponent, La Serna would be the favorite. One thing is for sure, the Lancers will win. But it will be the Norwalk Lancers who prove to be too strong.

Northwest Division

El Segundo (10-3) at Nordhoff (12-1)

If there’s a Cinderella here it’s El Segundo. Everybody expected to see Oak Park in the Finals after the Eagles took care of Nordhoff, Bishop Diego and El Segundo during the regular season. But they couldn’t take care of El Segundo the second time. Lars Nootbar has led the way to eight straight victories including a 59-40 win over Oak Park last week. Nordhoff however is a proven commodity, The Rangers are the defending champs and as the saying goes, you have to beat the champs to be the champs. Matt Woodcock is leading a solid ground game rushing for 162 yards last week in the win over Bishop Diego. Nordhoff wins its second straight title.
