All kickoffs are at 7::00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated:
Thursday October 10
Covina (5-1) at Diamond Bar (0-6)
It’s hard to believe Diamond Bar has not won a game. The Brahmas have played a tough schedule and they should start winning games soon. Last week they came up a buck short against South Hills. Covina needed a score with 16 seconds left to beat Los Altos. Expect another close one here. Diamond Bar will be in it until the end and again come up just short. Jake Duronslet and the Colts get it done.
Covina 30 Diamond Bar 27
Friday October 11
Damien (4-2) at Upland (2-4)
Damien continues its trek though the Baseline. Every week will be a battle. Upland fell to Rancho Cucamonga last week while Damien took care of Etiwanda. The Spartans pull it off again. The close games that Damien lost last year it is winning this season. Friday Night the Spartans find a way.
Damien 24 Upland 21
Los Altos (3-3) at Chino (1-5)
Chino picked up its first win of the year last week and it was a big one. The Cowboys started the Hacienda with a rout of Walnut. They needed that. Los Altos’ loss to Covina was tough to swallow as it got away in the end. Flip a coin to decide the winner. It would be easier than trying to call this one. A field goal wins it in the fourth quarter.
Los Altos 20 Chino 17
El Monte (3-3) at South El Monte (3-3)
This one could be for the Mission Valley League title. El Monte is actually 5-1 on the field but had to forfeit two wins due to an ineligible player. The Lions beat Gabrielino last week while South El Monte torched Mt. View. Another game that could be predicted by drawing straws. El Monte grabs the short one. South holds on to win the Griffin Bowl.
South El Monte 27 El Monte 24
Muir (4-2) at Burroughs (5-1)
This is the toughest test Muir will face in the Pacific League. Burroughs is the defending league champs. But that was then. This is now. Muir lost a couple tough games early but has been rolling ever since. If you want to compare common opponents Burroughs beat Arcadia 21-13 while the Mustangs routed the Apaches 49-3. Muir has outscored it last two opponents 102-3. The Stangs won’t mess around here. They win…big.
Muir 45 Burroughs 13
Temple City (5-1) at Monrovia (5-1)
Temple City’s unbeaten season ended last week in a 35-0 loss to La Canada to open the Rio Hondo League while Monrovia hammered San Marino 63-27. The Wildcats could lose a league game. We saw what San Dimas did to them a couple weeks ago. But it won’t be to the Rams. Monrovia rolls.
Monrovia 45 Temple City 10
Glendora (3-3) at Colony (2-4)
Glendora lost last week to Bonita in the Sierra League while Colony started with a win by beating Los Osos. Big game for both teams. Glendora doesn’t want to lose its second straight league game while the Titans could gain a ton of momentum by starting the Sierra 2-0. Colony hasn’t played its best ball yet. Glendora comes out fighting and may even take a lead into halftime. But when the dust settles Colony emerges with the victory.
Colony 24 Glendora 20
San Dimas (5-1) at Northview (6-0) (Covina District Field)
Looks like the Game of the Week. Northview is working on a perfect season while San Dimas has only stumbled once – to unbeaten Bonita. Both teams love to run the ball. Northview’s Keanu Tavao and Julian Vigil of San Dimas are both having big years. The Saints can also spell Vigil with Caleb Morquecho who provides a dynamic one-two punch. Northview though can stretch the field now with receiver Isaiah Lucero who transferred in from Damien. Both teams will land big shots in a high scoring affair. The Vikings will land a couple more a little too often. Northview stays undefeated.
Northview 41 San Dimas 28

M&P explain yourself!!fraudulent???
la serna will lose running clock when it matters. bum program absolutely fraudulent.
Griffin Bowl at the swamp! For a shot a league! Doesn’t get any better than this. Storyline is can south put together 4 quarters of consistent football. They haven’t showed that ability as of yet against someone who can hit back. If they do put together a good game plan execute that plan and play consistently they’ll win. They are more talented for sure. Frank Gallardo has had some talent at the swamp BUT and it’s a big but he hasn’t been able to get over the top. The other storyline is EM has its own issues. Just when you think they’re gonna turn the corner and stamp themselves as a league favorite they go out and play the sloppiest game you can imagine against Gab. Turnovers and penalties kept gab in that game. If EM has great coaching they should be able to clean up that mess by now right? So, who can deliver? Can Frank set up a showdown with Arroyo on the last week of the season? Can EM once again deny SEM ? Can Spathias get his troops to not give the ball away? My opinion it comes down to turnovers. I think both teams will turn the ball over maybe even twice. If I’m being honest I think talent wins out. EM will make too many mistakes and SEM wins 34-28 in a nail biter! Rivalry reignited!
As much as I hate to agree with MOST of your comment, I don’t think the margin will be 20 points.
We still have a few weeks to go.
RE: Temple City v Monrovia
The 35-0 prediction is half right.
That will be the score at halftime, as the running clock plays out in the second half.
Sorry TC the light you see is a train coming down the tunnel
EM staff winning reputation? Haha!
SEM might have the best Qb Rb and Wr but who’s on the headsets? Lololol it won’t matter who SEM brings to the fight. This point will always be true, certain coaches just can’t win the big one and that staff has proven over and over again they just can’t win the big game. With that said someone has to win. My guess is EM wins 24-14
BG – SCHURR
IDK IF BG WILL BE ABLE TO KEEP UP. HOW BOTH TEAMS PLAY MONTEBELLO WILL TELL YOU HOW MUCH BG WILL HANG.
EARLY PREDICTION
BG LOSES BY 20 EASY
BUT HEY , BG HAS A PUNCHERS CHANCE ALWAYS. TEAM IS SCRAPPY
I know we shouldn’t look ahead like this but my Alma Mater looks like it may be on a collision course with Schurr in the final game for the league title. BG Lancers and the Spartans can enter that last game at 8-1.
Coach Ramirez has picked up right where Novoa left off. He has not missed a beat. This community will continue to thrive off this success. Great job Coach!
I don’t think El Monte is great , but SEM scored 17 vs Bishop Montgomery , 6 vs Montebello and was shutout by Valencia . They struggled vs Alhambra ! …and we’re shutout until 4th quarter. If SEM has all these “ best in league “ offensive players , where is the production????
Winning reputation? I don’t know about that but I take EM either way. There is always that one game SEM lets us down.
Big step up for Walnut . They were in weaker league and they won’t be competitive in any game left this year
@Low Profile
I looked deeper into the EM vs Gab game and EM had over 450 yards of offense while Gab had about 100 yards of offense. Turnovers are a big part of the game and EM had 5 turnovers. If EM turns the ball over this week SEM will come out on top. They have the best QB, RB and WR in the league. Who does EM have? I just don’t see it. I know coaching is a big part of the game and the EM staff has a winning reputation where every they have been, but if you don’t have the horses, please enlighten me.
You will still the real Sem team Friday
I agree Northview will roll. They’ll win by 21 or more. But how is San Dimas D better than Bonita’s ?
No league got it more correct than the Hacienda League. A blood bath, down to the wire game every week. Walnut may be the only one that doesn’t like it, but they were doing well in a weaker league prior to this.
Northview under-rated even though they get alot of love from the Mid. Northview wins this easy and will be able to cruise in the 4th. San Dimas defense better than Bonita’s.
I will agree with most of the picks , and there are a lot of tossup type games . I’ll go the other way on two games though . El Monte to beat SEM ; SEM has been disappointing this year , and have not been able to sustain success from last year.El Monte did struggle a bit with Gab , but have been the much better team throughout the season : El Monte 23-12
I will also pick Glendora over Colony . Tough loss v Bonita will have them ready.
