(Covina) – Sierra Vista went on a 9-0 run to open the third quarter and outscored Northview 31-11 in the second half and went on to beat the Vikings 54-34 Friday night at Northview High.
Tied at 23 at the half the Dons got a couple of buckets from Peter Albir and Aaron Buna hit a basket and sank three free throws as Sierra Vista went up 32-23. Northview went nearly six minutes without scoring in the third quarter before Jordan Hernandez finally knocked down a three.

Sierra Vista outscored Northview 13-6 in the third quarter and then broke it open in the fourth winning the quarter 18-5. Albir had another four points in the fourth quarter and Ethan Guevara went to work inside scoring seven points in the final frame.
Northview was able to hang with the Dons playing them even in the first and second quarters. Jakob Ramos had five points in the first quarter for the Vikes while Aaron Arreola was the man inside with seven – all in the second quarter.
Sierra Vista was led by Buna in the first half as he buried three shots from the land of plenty and scored 13 points. It was anybody’s game at the break before the Dons broke it open late.

Buna led all scorers with 18 for Sierra Vista while Guevara and Albir were also in double figures with 11 and 10 respectively. Ivan Ingelmo added nine. For Northview no player scored in double digits. Ramos and Arreola led the team with seven each Brendan Altamarino added six.
Sierra Vista buried five three-pointers in the game, three by Buna, while Northview hit four from beyond the arc.
Sierra Vista improved to 4-6 with the victory while Northview dropped to 4-8.
