  1. Chargers Pro Bowl left tackle Rashawn Slater is out for the season after suffering a ruptured patellar tendon in practice Thursday. 
  2. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson left the preseason game with the Baltimore Ravens in the first quarter Thursday with a dislocated pinkie after a sack. 
  3. The Dodgers are just two games ahead of the second place San Diego Padres in the NL West after a 5-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday night. 
  4. The Boston Red Sox signed outfielder Roman Anthony to an eight-year, $130 million extension. 
  5. The Toronto Blue Jays racked up 63 hits and 45 runs in a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies. 63 hits were the most in a three-game series since 1900. 
  6. Coaches Preseason Poll -Top 5: 1. Texas 2. Ohio State 3. Penn State 4. Georgia 5. Notre Dame. 
  7. The Seattle Seahawks and the Las Vegas Raiders tied 23-23 Thursday night in the preseason opener. The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles beat the Cincinnati Bengals 34-27.
  8. The Chargers will face the New Orleans Saints Sunday at SoFi Stadium in the first preseason game. 
  9. Houston Texans safety C.J Gardner Johnson injured his right leg in practice Thursday and had to be carted off the field. Tests revealed that the ACL is intact but it is still to be determined how long he will be out.
  10. The New York Mets will honor the 60th anniversary of the Beatles performance at Shea Stadium on August 15.
