  1. The Dodgers lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 Sunday and are now just two games ahead of the San Diego Padres in the NL West. 
  2. The Rams beat the Dallas Cowboys 31-21 Saturday in the preseason opener. 
  3. Ichiro Suzuki had his jersey number 51 retired by the Seattle Mariners Saturday. 
  4. Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl left guard Landon Dickerson was helped off the field and carted indoors after suffering an apparent right leg injury during the team’s open practice Sunday night.
  5. Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Rondale Moore, who missed all of last season with a right knee injury, suffered a significant injury to his left knee against the Houston Texans on Saturday. 
  6. Jacksonville kicker Cam Little made a 70-yard field goal in the Jaguars preseason loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday night. The kick would have broken the NFL record had it been made in a regular season game. 
  7. Cleveland quarterback Shedeur Sanders threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns in the Browns 30-10 win over Carolina Friday night. 
  8. Seattle’s Cal Raleigh joined Ken Griffey Jr. as the only Mariners players to hit 45 home runs in a season when he hit a two-run shot Sunday in a win over Tampa Bay. Griffey did it five times. 
  9. The Lakers will host the Golden State Warriors on October 21 to open the 2025-’26 NBA season. 
  10. The Boston Celtics signed head coach Joe Mazulla to a multiyear extension.
