- JSerra Catholic has hired former NFL linebacker Hardy Nickerson as its new head football coach. Last season Nickerson was the head coach at Oakland’s Bishop O’Dowd High School where he led the Dragons to the CIF Division 5A State championship.
- Arizona State running back Raleek Brown is declaring for the NFL draft.
- Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle and his family were among seven people killed in a plane crash Thursday in Statesville, North Carolina.
- The Miami Dolphins are benching quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and will start Quinn Ewers Sunday.
- Rams lost to the Seattle Seahawks 38-37 in overtime on Thursday Night Football. The Rams fell to 11-4 and one game behind the Seahawks in the NFC West.
- Former Florida head coach Will Muschamp has been hired as the defensive coordinator at Texas.
- Ohio University fired football coach Brian Smith for cause citing a romantic relationship with a student and an allegation of public intoxication.
- The Jacksonville Jaguars signed receiver Jakobi Meyers to a three-year, $60 million extension.
- The San Diego Padres signed right-hander Michael King to a three-year, $75 million deal.

I hope the schools appreciate guys like Mazotta, Perez, George, Holman, Medrano, Gallardo, Gonzalez, and several others who have shown loyalty to their schools and have lead them to success.
Lemon will be missed, but I’m positive USC will keep right on humming with someone else.
#8 I understand the premise of holding coaches to a higher standard, but a university student is more than likely to be 18 or older. So both parties are above the age of consent. So he got fired for having a girlfriend and an “allegation” of public intoxication. That was some contract. I wish our elected public officials should have to sign.
