- The New York Giants are finalizing a deal to hire John Harbaugh as their new head coach. Details of the contract have not been released.
- Northwood (Irvine) quarterback Dylan D’ Epifano, class of ’28 has transferred to Bishop Amat.
- A federal indictment Thursday in Pennsylvania unsealed a college basketball point-shaving scheme that involves more than 39 players on 17 NCAA Division I teams. According to the indictment dozens of games in the previous two seasons were fixed by a gambling ring that included a former NBA player.
- Former Azusa head football coach and longtime SGV assistant coach Craig Schuster has joined the Azusa Pacific staff as defensive backs coach.
- Clayton Kershaw has committed to pitch for Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
- The Boston Red Sox signed left-hander Ranger Suarez to a five-year, $130 million deal.
- The Dodgers signed free agent outfielder Kyle Tucker to a four-year $240 million deal. Tucker hit 22 homeruns and had 73 RBIs in 136 games last year with the Chicago Cubs.
- Indiana is a 7.5 – point favorite over Miami in the College Football national championship game Monday night.
