@Coach @Too bad… honestly, I partially disagree with this new realignment. Thinking back, it’d be better if it’s:
A: Burbank, John Muir, La Cañada, Monrovia, Pasadena, South Pasadena
B: Arcadia, Crescenta Valley, John Burroughs, San Marino
C: (Blair), Gabrielino, Glendale, Herbert Hoover, Marshall, Temple City
The rivalry game with SP is one of the better ones that nobody talks about outside the area.
Bummer they aren’t gonna keep playing TC, LC, and Monrovia. Can’t imagine those schools not wanting to play SM in pre league games.
I like the new coach choice though. Imagine he’ll try to get Monrovia on the schedule eventually. Hope he goes back to Monrovia when we finally move on from the current guy.
Some of what you said is correct, but there is some inaccuracies. The realignment at this point would be every two years, gives everyone the Home and Home opportunity.
Second, it’s not necessarily the top two teams from each league. It’s by power ranking. Otherwise SP would be in the top as the league champion.
Third, you forgot Creacenta Valley in the B league.

Also, you can still play other league opponents from one of the other conferences such as SM playing Marshall on week 0. I am pretty sure this will count as a non conference game. The conference games are after their bye so you can see who is good bet to be in the B conference. From what little I know for football, the A conference would be Muir, Burbank, La Canada & Monrovia. The B conference would be PHS. Burroughs, San Marino, Gabrielino and South Pas. The C conference is Marshall, Temple City, Arcadia, Glendale and Hoover. At some point Blair is trying to revive their 11 man program and will have to be fit in when they are ready.
@ Rams Fan, The Rio Hondo League and the Pacific League starting with the 2026 Fall season are combining leagues (this is the brainchild of Muir’s AD). The league will be divided into 3 conferences. The conferences are arranged by previous seasons results. So there is an A conference, a B conference and a C conference with A being the top teams from both leagues previous season. The B conference is the middle teams which the C conference is for the bottom teams. Gabrielino and John Marshal have also been moved into the new league to balance it out. Every year the conferences are reset based on the previous season results. Unfortunately this new alignment eliminates some long time standing match ups such as San Marino vs Monrovia or La Canada. I believe San Marion and South Pasadena are the two Rio Hondo teams from the B conference and will maintain their longstanding rivalry. This is new re-leaguing is true for all sports not just football.
Marshall- W
La Salle- W
Alhambra- L
Maranantha- L
Ganesha- W
CV-L
Pasadena- W with all their guys leaving to Baldwin Park
Burroughs- W
Gabrielino- W
South Pasadena- L. SP not as good as before, but still enough for SM.

The Sept. 4th game between San Marino and Alhambra will be their first matchup since 2005.

The whole idea is about competitive balance.

@ramsfan
They’re part of the new Rio Pacific Conference.
A: Burbank, La Canada, Monrovia, Muir
B: Burroughs, Crescenta Valley, Gabrielino, Pasadena, San Marino, South Pasadena
C: Arcadia, Glendale, Hoover, Marshall, Temple City (Blair is included, but doesn’t look like they will field a team)

6-4. What’s the name of their new league?
Did San Marino get moved out of Rio Hondo? Where are league opponents Monrovia, La Canada and Temple City?
