Lequand “Jack Jack” Jackson lets one fly in win over Rowland.

(Baldwin Park) – Lequand “Jack Jack” Jackson threw for 267 yards and five touchdowns and also ran for 116 yards and to lead Baldwin Park to a 45-8 rout of visiting Rowland Friday night.

Jackson did a little bit of everything for the Braves but he also had a lot of help. He had numerous weapons at his disposal as receiver Donovan St Cyr, Jacory Coleman and Jordan Minor also had big games.

Rowland chewed up plenty of clock on its opening possession running the ball but when the Raiders were stopped on fourth down on the Baldwin Park 40 the Braves struck quickly. Four plays later Jackson hit Coleman who outran the Rowland secondary for a 39-yard touchdown.

After Rowland was forced to punt the Braves struck again. They used six plays to go 74 yards. Landis Whitener finished it with a one-yard run as the clock hit zeroes on the first quarter to make it 14-0.

In the second quarter Jackson used his legs to set up a score. He broke off a 50-yard run down to the Rowland 10-yard line. Then, after a penalty, he hit St. Cyr for a five-yard touchdown with 1:34 left in the half. The extra point attempt was blocked and it was 20-0. The Braves took that lead into the break.

Rowland surprised Baldwin Park by recovering an onside kick to open the third quarter. The Raiders marched down to the Braves seven-yard line but were stopped on fourth down.

Baldwin Park proceeded to march 93 yards for another score. Jackson fired a 16-yard touchdown strike to St Cyr again to put the Braves up 26-0.

Rownalnd finally got on the board early in the fourth quarter. Cooper Kinsley scored on three-yard keeper to cap an 80-yard drive with 9:39 left in the fourth quarter.

Baldwin Park came up with three big plays to finish it off. First St. Cyr hauled in his third touchdown of the night – this one from 23 yards out on a bullet from Jackson.

On the next possession Jackson found a wide-open Coleman who grabbed the toss and raced 67 yards for the score.

The freshman, Jordan Minor, got into the act as he went one way, reversed his field, hit the corner and won a footrace into the end zone 35 yards for the touchdown with 2:51 left. That score started the running clock and the Braves were on their way to their first victory.

St. Cyr finished with six catches for 86 yards and three touchdowns. Coleman had two receptions for 106 yards and two scores and also ran for 70 yards on five carries. Minor had six carries for 59 yards and the 35-yard touchdown run.

Shawn Gulley anchored a stout Baldwin Park defense with two interceptions.

For Rowland Kinsey had seven carries for 36 yards and a touchdown and Xavier Carrillo ran six times for 31 yards.

With the victory Baldwin Park bounced back from a loss to La Serna last week to improve to 1-1. Rowland is 0-1.
