Damien is still at the top after a win over Aquinas. Downey, Muir and Bishop Amat all came away with victories over quality opponents. Charter Oak has Corin, Rio Hondo has Chico and Covina has Gatsbee! Northview feeling that Vegas Vibe.

By Ron Vrooman (Alhambra) – Tailback Halen Tsang scored on an 11-yard run with 2:38 left, and Tristen Garcia kicked the tie-breaking extra point to give Alhambra a 21-20 victory over South El Monte on Saturday night to open the 2025 season.

By Alex A. Gonzalez El Monte – The Maranatha Minutemen traveled to B.L. Bergstrom Stadium Friday night to start their 2025 campaign against the Arroyo Knights, and after a slow start, the Minutemen rattled off 21 unanswered points before halftime, en route to a 34-14 win on the warm summer night.

Kares Survive Penalties, Injuries to Zero in on Victory

By Tim Peterson (Irwindale) – Rio Hondo Prep had their best running back knocked out with an injury, committed numerous penalties, turned the ball over and still came away with a 20-9 victory over Schurr Friday night at Kare Park to open the season.
