(Pasadena)- Pasadena’s Brandon Cox threw two touchdowns passes in the first half, but Cathedral’s Hayden Rettig threw four touchdown passes, three to Damari Scott, to lead the Phantoms to a 35-21 victory Friday night.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring when Cox went 10-yards to Torus Stepney in the first quarter.
Cathedral answered back with Rettig going 68-yards to Torry McTyer. They added the deuce and led 8-7 at the 7:51 mark of the opening frame.
Six minutes later Rettig hooked up with Scott for the first of their three scoring connections and the Phantoms led 15-7.
In the second quarter Stepney drew the Bulldogs to within one, 15-14, when he scored on a 4-yard run. Rettig immediately answered with his second scoring toss to Scott. The point after was missed.
With 1:11 to play in the first half Cox went 58-yards to Raymond Jackson and the game was knotted at 21-21.
Following a scoreless third quarter, the Phantoms pushed ahead on Cameron Hayne’s 31-yard run. The Rettig found Scott from 8-yards for the final touchdown.
