Game Night: Week Three – Friday

The Oilers are heading to El Rancho

The Oilers are heading to El Rancho

All Kick-Offs are 7:00 PM unless otherwise noted

Azusa (1-1) at Arcadia (1-1)

Arcadia is coming off of a beating by Monrovia while Azusa just beat Maranatha. It’s a nice matchup of two teams that rarely get together. The Apaches have the home field and should bounce back but the Aztecs seem to be back on track now. Cameron Blackburn can make some noise. The Aztecs hang around but in the end the Apaches pull it out.

Arroyo (2-1) at Rowland (2-1)

Last Year: Arroyo 41-21

This would be a bad loss for Arroyo. The Knights have been impressive in wins over La Puente and Temple City and they hung around with Los Altos in the opener. The Raiders got a couple of victories  early over teams that they should have beaten but Arroyo is a different animal. The Knights pull away in the second half.

Schurr (0-2) at Diamond Ranch (2-1)

Last Year: Diamond Ranch 23-6

Schurr has played a brutal schedule and it doesn’t get any easier here. Diamond Ranch won its first two games handily but were bitten last week by Ayala. The Spartans have definitely scheduled up and they are paying the price. D-Ranch gets the win.

Montebello (1-2) at El Rancho (1-2)

Last Year: El Rancho 57-48

Last year was a shootout and we could be looking at another one. Montebello piled up 57 points last week in a rout of South El Monte while El Rancho scored 25 but still fell a couple of touchdowns short of Bell Gardens. Both teams can score but it will come down to who can make the most stops. El Rancho has some some people up front that can stop the run. The Dons should be able to contain Isaac Mendibles. The scoreboard operator will be busy but it will be the Ranch who gets more clicks.

El Rancho 38 Montebello 31

Inglewood (1-1) at Burbank (2-0)

Last Year: Inglewood 21-14 – OT

Burbank has started off fast with big wins over Bell Gardens and Canoga Park. The Bulldogs have weapons in James “Boobie” Williams and Ryan Meredith. Inglewood is coming off a big loss to Stockdale (Bakersfield). Home field and a big game from Williams should be enough. The Bank closes Inglewood’s accounts.

Burbank 21 Inglewood 17

Crescenta Valley (2-0) at La Canada (2-0)

Last Year: Crescenta Valley 48-21

The Falcons have scored 110 points in two games including a 56-53 blockbuster win last week over San Marino. The offense is nearly unstoppable. La Canada has gotten a couple of wins over Alhambra and Glendale. This one won’t be close. CV jumps on LC early and never lets up. Falcons romp.

Crescenta Valley 45 La Canada 10

Maranatha (2-1) at La Salle (1-2)

Last Year: La Salle 63-7

Well it won’t be 63-7 but it could get out of hand. The Minutemen won their first two game but fell to Azusa last week  by 19. La Salle’s offense is more potent than Azusa’s. The Lancers two defeats have come courtesy of Cathedral and Bishop Diego – definitely no chumps. La Salle’s offense should get started early and roll through out the game. Maranatha might have trouble making stops.

La Salle 34 Maranatha 14

Chino (0-3) at Los Altos (3-0)

Last Year: Chino 16-0

Chino was 8-3 last year but is already 0-3 this year. The Cowboys have been outscored 127-16. Meanwhile Los Altos is rolling – three wins in three games including victories over San Dimas and Arroyo. The Conquerors beat Wilson 55-0 last week in the “Battle for the Wheel.” Hide the women and children. This one is not for the squeamish. It might get ugly.

Los Altos 45 Chino 13

San Dimas (0-3) at Monrovia (2-0)

Last Year: Monrovia 35-23

San Dimas needs a win but it’s not coming this week. If the Saints do everything right they could still lose by two touchdowns. Monrovia does need to be careful but if the Cats execute like they should it could be over early. San Dimas allowed 33 points to Bonita, 42 to Los Altos and 40 to Diamond Bar. How are they going to stop Curt Scoby and Monrovia. They aren’t. Monrovia wins going away.

Monrovia 41 San Dimas 20

Northview (3-0) at South El Monte (1-1)

Last Year: Northview 21-6

This looked like a good matchup until last week’s South El Monte debacle at Montebello. It still could be but the Eagles need to stop the run. Christeon Blackmon and the Vikings have rushed for over 700 yards combined. It won’t be as bad as the Montebello game last week but Northview gets the Win. Right now South has some struggles on both sides of the ball.

Northview 27 South El Monte 12
