(Santa Margarita) – The La Canada girls fell behind by eight early in the first quarter and never recovered in a 67-59 loss to Santa Margarita Saturday night in the CIF Division 3A Semi Finals.
Neither team was never really able to get into a flow as there were 61 total fouls in the contest. La Canada was hindered when All-Area player Courtney Chen got into early foul trouble and played only eight minutes the entire game. Chen finished with seven points.
Keilee Bessho led the Lady Spartans with 19 points, six rebounds and five steals. Sarah Kurdoghlian added ten.
For the victorious Lady Eagles, Zaire Williams had 24 and freshman Tori Anderson had 16.
La Canada finished the season at 25-6 but still has a chance to qualify for the State playoffs.
