Oiler Defense no one keeps stats just from a half of football, if that were the case the Atlanta Falcons would have a Super Bowl ring, the New England Patriots would have beat the Philadelphia Eagles and there are probably over 100 hundred examples at the high school level. 31 points scored is enough to win a football game was the point I was making, I don’t care how the points are spread out through the game! Just be excited the Oilers won the game!
@ from the white house
Just fact checking out scored your opponents and controlled the ball. Yes you did out scored your opponent but, In 3 out of the 5 game in league you only needed to score 8 points to win.
9/28
@ Montebello
(L) 41 – 31
10/5
@ San Gabriel

Alhambra

Schurr

Play defense against a quality team then talk. Let’s see if Montebello plays defense against the first 5 teams they will face this year. La Serna will be a peace of cake
@from the whitmont
How many points in the second half did the Bell Gardens powerful offense score against the MONTEBELLO Oilers Defense. Let me refresh your memory 3 points. Pretty good from a team you claim don’t play any defense. I would even say we shut you out the second half.
HALF TIME score
MHS 21
BGHS 28
FINAL
MHS 41
BGHS 31
I’m just glad that guy Oiler Nation is not here trying to start something…LOL nice try ….
?? Hey coach what the hell you talking about? EM not even in the Almont. We would destroy all of those teams just like we did PASSING against them!!! LOL, if they couldn’t stop EM’s passing game, imagine them trying to stop the run game? Comical you have become!!
I don’t think anyone said scared. But we must be doing something right if you’re here talking about us in a Almont league post. Pete did a great job with his preseason.
True don’t see the Almont winning Cif anytime soon nobody….
Comical, I would agree with your summary of the defense under Coach Beltran but let’s not get confused, Bell Gardens didn’t win league because they made a change at Defensive Coordinator. The defense was “still giving up the bootie” as you put it. They won league because their offense outscored opponents and controlled the clock, scored 31 and lost to Montebello for example. Defense is non existence in the Almont League! No one plays it!
@anon
You do know Beltran was giving up the bootie while calling defense in the Almont.
He stopped calling defense, they win league!!!!!! It’s like magic huh.
Beltran and fat boy winch need to take a lap with their kids.
@ RAMS FAN
Probably as long as he keeps poking his head around this league!
It didn’t benefit San Gabriel that joe came in and ran a wing t offense. No Rosemead rebels wanted to go to sg because of this.
@ron I agree sg is a mess but I think @trith also has a point so, I think til this point sg has finally recovered and stabilized after this year if the coach stays, we need to start seeing improvement to achieve goals reminiscent of the past. ( over a couple of years of course)
@ Rams Fan: Jude Oliva last coached at San Gabriel High in 2012, a little over six and-a-half years ago. Someone else took over the program for one year (I can’t remember who that person was), and then Joe Ledesma was the Matadors’ walk-on coach for three seasons.
Kevin Encinas became San Gabriel’s head football coach at about this time two years ago. He inherited a mess.
Beltran is back to running the defense this year,so there will not me any 2nd half collapses against the oilers this year,
Bottom Line; L S is going to the playoffs and they need not schedule a weak team to get there. Simple; very simple science / logic /??common sense is LS does not need a win against Montebello to get to playoffs. And if they r playing some tough teams maybe they want to mix in a weaker club
Just curious how much longer Jude Oliva is going to be blamed for the demise of San Gabriel’s football program after he left? Give it up, the dudes been gone for like 10 years already. Anonymous?
San Gabriel sucks
So Montebello scheduling two wing-t teams in the preseason ISN’T a sign of them preparing for BG? Ok *eye roll*
This is how I see it…
1. Montebello
2. Bell Gardens
3. Alhambra
4. Schurr
5. San Gabriel
6. Mark Keppel
BG should beat Schurr badly again, but they have had trouble with Montebello all 3 years of Beltran era. Montebello beats BG and Schurr last year, lost to Alhambra. Montebello scored pretty well on all teams except Alhambra, although I thought I remembered hearing their QB didnt play that game or something. Alhambra had Schurr beat almost the whole game and should’ve won that game if not for a collapse at end, from what I have heard. They’ve also struggled mightily with BG too. Schurr is terrible from what I’ve seen and heard! I know people saying they were young last year, but they played quite a few seinors last year too. Hearing they’re playing a Soph QB, I thought their QB last year was a Soph. Wonder what happened?… Should make for a lot of interesting games this season!
@Anonymous
Montebello hasn’t lost to BG since 2012… I dont think it’s getting ready for BG, I think it’s them playing tough games throughout the preseason!
@BL: Oilers begged us for this game. Said it would give their program stature.Gotta help the poor once in awhile.
I don’t question the fortitude and wisdom of Montebello’s preseason schedule; instead I wonder why on God’s green earth La Serna would stoop to the level of the Oilers as a way to steel themselves for the playoffs. Rather than having a chance to improve and prepare, the Montebello meeting can only cause the team to lose focus.
Alhambra 3-2 best, 2-3 worst
BG 3-2 best, 2-3 worst
Keppel best 2-3, worst 1-4
Montebello best 2-3, worst 0-5
Schurr best 2-3, worst 1-4
Montebello really trying to prepare for BG based on that preseason schedule – smart.
Well you know his name, you been out there? Will sg cause any surprises? Any key player? @NWO
San gabriel looking improved this year after Jude left the program in bad conditions
Wow, that’s quite a preseason schedule Montebello set up! Bold move.
BG, Montebello way to go!!!! That’s how you prepare your troops for battle.
El Monte Lions take note. No excuses here. No teams “scared” of such a physical offense or Maybe EM lost the phone numbers to these schools.
Much respect to Pistol Pete Gonzalez
And Big Margarito Beltran for stepping up and giving us games to look forward to.
Every pre season game Montebello gonna be in a fight. League should be a cakewalk after. Good sxxt coach Pete
Nice shot of SG’s Max Castillo.
Gotta hand it to Montebello, that is a pretty solid pre season slate.
