Sierra Vista Selects Moye’

By Tim Peterson

(Baldwin Park) – Pete Moye’ has been named the new head football coach at Sierra Vista the school announced late Tuesday. Moye’ takes over for Sergio Villasenor and son Matt Villasenor who stepped down as co- head coaches after the Spring season ended.

Moye’ was most recently the defensive coordinator at Los Altos this past season. He played his college football at East LA College and La Verne. Before Los Altos he has had several coaching stops that included ELAC, Golden West College and Mayfair High.

Moye’ was the DB Coach at ELAC in 2015 and then held the same position at Mayfair from 2016-2018. In 2019 and 2020 he was the wide receivers coach at Golden West before moving on to Los Altos.

“I’m excited. It’s a program that is on the rise and I’m looking to keep the ball rolling. The SGV area has a lot of good football programs and I want to help make Sierra Vista be one of them year in and year out,” Moye’ said.

“He’s a solid guy,” said Los Altos head coach Travis Brown.

Sierra Vista went 3-1 this past season with its only loss being a 35-28 defeat to Monrovia on April 2nd. The Dons racked up 48 and 58 points against Montclair and Cerritos respectively and also knocked off El Rancho on the road.
