- The Boston Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks 105-98 Sunday night to take a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals.
- The New York Yankees beat the Dodgers 6-4 Sunday night but the Dodgers took two out of three in the series in New York.
- Former NBA star/ Hall of Famer Chet “The Jet” Walker passed away at the age of 84. Walker is a member of the Chicago Bulls Ring of Honor.
- California softball head coach Jason Ramirez has stepped down after six years. Ramirez resigned due to health reasons as he is currently battling ALS.
- At the First Annual Keppel 7 on 7 passing Tournament Saturday Oak Hills won the D1 Championship and Canyon won the D2 Championship.
- UConn head basketball coach Dan Hurley met with the Lakers on Friday about their head coaching opening and is expected to make a decision Monday.
- Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, the number one overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, was left off of the U.S. women’s basketball team that will compete this summer in the Paris Olympics.
- Former LSU basketball player Josh Maravich, son of the late Hall of Fame player “Pistol” Pete Maravich, passed away at the age of 42 the University announced Saturday.
- New York Giants tight end Darren Waller announced his retirement after nine years. Waller spent last year with the Giants after playing the previous five years of his career with the Las Vegas Raiders. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2015.
- Downey quarterback Oscar Rios, class of ’26, has received several offers so far including Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, California, Colorado State and Nebraska.
Leeaving out Clark was a mistake in that USA womens BB will not be watched as much as a team with Clark on it and will be second guessed if they don’t have a hot 3 point shooter.
Maybe the presence of a QB like Oscar Rios at Downey, combined with Warren’s lack of a top signal caller, caused Pearson to bolt from the Bears’ coaching job. I haven’t seen this kid, but with that kind of collegiate interest, I’ll do so ASAP.
