  1. The U.S. Men’s Basketball team beat France 98-87 Saturday to win the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. 
  2. The U.S. Women’s Basketball team beat France 67-66 Sunday to win the gold medal at the Olympics. 
  3. The U.S. Women’s soccer team beat Brazil 1-0 Saturday at the Olympics to win the gold medal. 
  4. The Dodgers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-5 in 10 innings Sunday to sweep the three-game series. The Dodgers lead the NL West by 3.5 games over the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres.

  6. Stetson Bennett threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Miller Forristall with four seconds left to lift the Rams to a 13-12 win over the Dallas Cowboys Sunday in the first preseason game at SoFi Stadium. 
  7. Dodgers’ rookie right-hander River Ryan is out for the season with an elbow injury that occurred Saturday night against the Pirates. 
  8. Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce said he will announce the team’s starting quarterback following the next exhibition game, at home Saturday against the Cowboys. 
  9. The San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints mutually agreed to cancel their joint practices that were scheduled August 15 and 16 in Irvine, California due to numerous injuries on the 49ers roster.  
  10. The New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles are tied for first place in the AL East with records of 70-49.
