([La Puente] Kevin Encinas has been named the new head football coach at Nogales he confirmed Thursday. Encinas takes over for Matt Villasenor who stepped down to become the head coach at Muir.
Encinas spent four seasons as San Gabriel’s head coach going 24-14 and leading them to a CIF title and a 6A Regional Championship in 2022.
The last two seasons Encinas has been the offensive coordinator at Nogales and now steps right in as the head coach.
Encinas knew Nogales was the right choice.
“I grew up here. My siblings are proud alumni. Losing my oldest brother in 2020 changed my life. Coming back to lead this program is deeply personal-it’s about honoring him, honoring this community and giving everything I have to the place that gave us so much,” Encinas said.
