(El Monte) – Azusa scored seven runs in the fourth inning and went on to an 11-0 rout of Arroyo Tuesday at Arroyo. The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.

While the Aztecs offense was rolling the pitching was just as good. Danny Quezada threw five shutout innings and allowed just two hits while walking three.

Already leading 1-0, Azusa added three more in the third inning. Rafael Molina and Zach Huizar walked and Quezada rocked a two-run double to the right-center field gap. Quezada then scored on a sacrifice fly by Matt Huizar.

The Aztecs then put the game away in the fourth. Adrian Pena beat out an infield hit and Anthony Quezada and Jeran Ofalla walked to load the bases. Rafael Molina was hit by a pitch to force in a run, Quezada scored on a passed ball and Ofalla came home on a wild pitch. Later in the inning after a couple more walks Justin Casas drilled a two-run single. After another hit batter, Pena, who led off the inning with an infield hit, laced a single to drive in two more. By the time the dust had settled Arroyo had used three pitchers in the inning and Azusa had batted around and was up 11-0,

Danny Quezada mowed the Knights down over the final two frames and the Aztecs had Arroyo at their mercy.

Noah Fonseca started for Arroyo and worked three plus innings before being relieved by Minel Aguilar in the fourth. Eric Rosales picked up for Aguilar and finally got the three outs in the fourth inning.

Jacob Antuna with a single in the first inning and Oscar Lopez with one in the fourth had the only hits for Arroyo in the contest.

Azusa improved to 3-2 with the victory while Arroyo fell to 2-3.
