(Rosemead) – Dwayne Wright, who played running back at Fresno State and was drafted by the Buffalo Bills, has been named the new head football coach at Rosemead the school confirmed Wednesday. Wright was the head coach at Gabrielino in 2023.
Wright was at Gabrielino for just one season and the Eagles went 0-10.
Wright was drafted by Buffalo in 2007 and also had stops with the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL as well as the CFL Toronto Argonauts.
He had coached for 13 years spending time at West Hills College and Fresno City College before taking over as head coach at Gabrielino in 2023.
Wright takes over at Rosemead for Arlin Slayton who stepped down in December after four years at the helm. The Panthers went 5-5 (3-3, 4th in the Mission Valley League) last season and missed the playoffs.

Running backs succeed with instinct , speed , strength – fundamentals are secondary . Therefore , seldom make great coaches

Legend? been decades since they were consistently very good right? had a few great seasons in the eighties that i know of
i think Rosemead is fortunate to land this coach who very well could bring extra good fundamentals with him . And very possibly his athletes might recognize very early on that they are learning more than previous head coaches?
How does this guy know NFL guy will not have patience enough to build? Self appointed know it all

I played for Coach D.Wright at Gabrielino. I had no offers and no looks. I am playing college ball because of him. He literally coached everything. Most of our team never played football before. The guy knows football inside out and builds relationships that makes you want to run through a wall for him. My approval for sure. Wish he stayed at Gabrielino.
I watched Coach Wright at practices and Games, Great Coach!! Stepped into an Admin role and couldn’t continue coaching. He had absolutely no spring and barely a summer at Gabrielino in 2023 leaving winning programs, he was hired 30 days before the season with absolutely no coaches at GAB. He had to hire parents. The Gab team now was what he built. The record was the record most games losing by a few points. Great addition for the panthers! He will have an off season to train and prepare these athletes!
Wow it seems like Rosemead just cannot figure it out. I played at Rosemead and also coached there as well and I really hope they can get back to where they used to be.
Last coach for Rosemead was awful, just to be replaced by another awful coach.

Way up . NFL guys don’t have the patience to build roster from ground up- RBs never a good head coach . Just completed 3years of plummeting downward with RB head coach ….now this . Unbelievable
