By Alex Gonzalez (La Canada) — With less than 40 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Golden Knight cornerback Kevin Armstead picked off Andrew Henriquez’ pass on the 18-yard line sealing St. Francis’ 31-27 win over La Serna in the Division 3 CIF Southern Section first round playoff Friday night at Friedman Field.
By Tim Peterson (Covina) – South Hills overcame a sluggish first half and used a big fourth quarter to beat Pacifica (Oxnard) 42-21 Thursday night in the first round of the CIF Division 7 Playoffs at Covina District Field.

Cathedral jumped into the top spot with a win over St. Francis while Sierra Canyon fell to Paraclete. Arcadia surprised Crescenta Valley to climb into the Top 20 while Diamond Ranch did a number on Los Altos to secure second in the Hacienda. Let the post season begin.

(Lancaster) The Paraclete Spirits and the Sierra Canyon Traiblazers did battle on Friday night at Brent Carder Marauder Stadium on the Campus of Antelope Valley College for the Gold Coast League title. After four quarters the Spirits came out on top with a 26-7 victory and Gold Coast bragging rights for the year.

By Joe Torosian (Burbank)–The Burbank Bulldogs got monster performances out of Duncan Smith, Matt Porras, Darnell Williams and froth at the mouth defense to take a 41-14 victory over the rival Burroughs Indians on Friday night at Memorial District Field.
