Arroyo-Rosemead…in May

Arroyo QB Nathan Coto is back
Arroyo and Rosemead renewed old acquaintances Saturday at B.L. Bergstrom Stadium. The Panthers and the Knights have been butting heads for decades in what is the best rivalry in the Mission Valley League but this wasn’t quite as intense as a Friday night clash in October.
Instead it was just a chance to throw the ball around a little [...]

Tim Peterson
It finally happened and it happened convincingly. For the first time in 21 years El Monte knocked off Arroyo. It wasn’t close. El Monte jumped out to a 26-7 halftime lead and it was 32-7 as the Lions coasted from there.

It wasn’t exactly the way you expected Arroyo to go down but this Brandon [...]

Tim Peterson, Arroyo, circa 1979
El Monte isn’t going to have a hard time scoring against anybody. You get the feeling that Brandon Martinez is going to get the ball in the endzone, throwing or passing or any other way every time he touches the ball.
I don’t remember in recent years a quarterback being that fast. [...]

Blake Heyworth, (right), Mason Bryant (center) and so many other weapons for Monrovia
So West Covina wins the SGV Shootout? What? Last year the Bulldogs were knocked out early and that figured. With guys like Chris Solomon, Jimmy Frazier and Aaron Salgado all Head Coach Mike Maggiore was going to do was pound the ball and [...]

West Covina Wins Shootout

SGV Shootout Champions – West Covina Bulldogs

San Gabriel quarterback Marcus Valenzuela has emerged as the number one guy
Three schools got together Tuesday on the day before the Fourth of July at where else? Arroyo. Interesting happenings for San Gabriel, Azusa and Arroyo…

Arroyo quarterback Nathan Coto
Upland, led by this guy, [...]
