I wasn’t there , so can’t comment . I just would like people to try to back up their opinions with some observations or statistics especially when blasting someone .Ron did talk about lack of cohesion and intensity which is often traced back to coaching …

@Ron Vrooman, AHS stat man please stop lying to the public. literally none of what you said is actually what happened. the coaches blew that game for alhambra. full stop.

how about instead of trying to place the blame on a bunch of 16 year olds you hold the adults accountable for once.

@ Anonymous (the one talking about Alhambra): Were you at the game? The score was only 12-7, La Salle, until there were less than four and-a-half minutes to go.
Unfortunately, the Alhambra offense had only one scoring drive the entire game, and then the defense finally caved in during the last few minutes. The defense has had five bad quarters (out of 16) so far this season, and two of those were at the end of games, after the offense had done virtually nothing.
We have athleticism on this team, and the coaches have been doing their best to prepare our players every week. But, the offense has had only one good quarter in four games. There have been too many mistakes, in addition to a lack of intensity and cohesion with the players.
There is only so much that a coaching staff can do; it is up to our players to execute.

Northview has no one left on their schedule that can touch them. With 10-0 assured it only matters how high Cal Preps computer rates them. They will be kicked up high enough that they will go out 1st round. D3 playing Amat or Yorba Linda.

The problem is when you play teams better than you week after week your starters get pummeled and injured. By the time league rolls around you might be hurting. Good thing is Del Rio is soft. No sure bet as who takes 2nd in the DR.

The schedule was made on basis of 21-22 teams . It is a division 10 type schedule . Cal is now D13-14 type team. Lest we forget Cal had good team in 2021 , and played a tough game with ElRancho at end of 22 season for second place and automatic bid.
Last year was big falloff, no traction for new staff yet this year . Schedule is legitimately too tough for current situation , that’s how it goes . Whittier looks like only win, with another long Friday projected vs tough Sonora squad.

You see a two year span where he had one guy that came in that didn’t play hs football anywhere else but he can’t coach with home grown kids. Everyone else was EM grown. 95% of those EM teams players never played after HS but those kids dominated on the field. Why? Cause they got coached.

Tell me all the transfers he has at Norwalk, Chino or Sierra Vista. Pennys, Moore, Faamatau, Rodriguez, West, Almazon, Morris, Terrazas all home grown kids.

La Serna has the toughest preseason schedule in the Del Rio League and it’s not even close but Cal has the second toughest preseason schedule. Covina (3-1), Brea (4-0), Segerstrom (3-1) and Long Beach Wilson (3-1). I went to the Wilson game (because it was a Thursday night game) and LB Wilson puts 60 on everyone in the Del Rio League EXCEPT La Serna, La Serna would’ve beat them. Preseason schedules prepare you for league and a playoff run, if Cal can get through this preseason healthy they could very easily make noise in league (not going to beat La Serna) and make the playoffs in Division 12 or 13.

Cal being 0-4 vs a competitive schedule is nothing to hang its head about. Giving up at least 50 points in each game vs teams with negative Calpreps ratings (still good teams though) is cause for concern.

    • Are any of the local area teams willing to step up and play Rio Hondo Prep week 10? MONROVIA!, we know you’re available.

    • Cisneros is only as good as the talent he brings in. Won’t turn a program around with homegrown kids

    • MVL is up for grabs. Don’t see a clear cut favorite but El Monte seems to be the most consistent in the preseason despite their two forfeits.

    • Haven’t seen Arroyo play nor do I want to. DELETED
The new coach’s antics sound entertaining but way out of character for a traditional program!!!

    • South is South, decent talent with poor coaching will keep them from winning league.

Cal & Whittier screwed up by not offering Ceniceros who would have turned things around right away. How are their decisions working out for them after all? Probably pretty good since all they care about is making sure the people at LaSerna are happy. Arroyo only needs to reach out to Ceniceros and bring him back into the district; I’m pretty sure a lot of people in El Monte would be elated if they brought him back in…

Losing by two touchdowns to Maranatha isn’t a horrible result ; actually that level of play might be good enough to win MVL and will surely get them playoff spot in the now woeful league .
Typically , the type of deportment that you describe eventually undermines team improvement and teams get worse ; so it will be interesting to see what happens .
Coach might be claiming league championship by taking -19 team that everyone complained about into a -35 circus show . Administrators will think it’s good coaching from resume

Arroyo with another awful performance, it was an ugly game. No clock management whatsoever, is his offense that bad where he needs to use plays that get stopped or even loss of yardage? Sitting in the stands, also heard Moyé talking to other players again about how bad they are and f-bombing his coaches and refs. When is arroyo going to finally get rid of him? I guess they didn’t learn after Sierra Vista and him throwing a 15year old tantrum… he needs to go.

If that Cal score is right 63-10 this is who they got rid of Zamora for? Zamoras teams were always competitive at the least. Maybe Whittier does get another W this year seeing that Cal team.
