The TEN: 2/24/2012

The TEN

Conspiracy Day.

(“The Ten” is not a top ten, but ten items worth being included in The TEN)

1.) The NBA rigged the 1985 lottery so the New York Knicks could draft Georgetown’s Patrick Ewing.

2.) Red Auerbach and the Boston Celtics paid to have Magic Johnson’s 1991 blood test show positive for HIV.

3.) The NFL hated Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis so much it employed the “Tuck Rule” on Tom Brady’s celebrated fumble in the 2001 playoffs.

4.) Temple City football always wins the coin flip.

5.) NFL covered up “Spygate” because it wanted the New England Patriots—Patriots—to win the title the same season that 911 occurred.

6.) Jude Oliva conjured up the windstorm last fall to delay, by one night, San Gabriel’s semifinal match with San Dimas.

7.) To ensure the league’s success with revenue and high ratings, the NBA conspired to have only five teams qualify for the finals during the 1980’s (Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Houston, & Detroit).

8.) Michigan star Chris Weber was paid off to throw the NCAA Finals against North Carolina in 1993. First by traveling (which wasn’t called) and then calling timeout when the Wolverines had no timeouts remaining.

9.) How come Arroyo always seems to have a quarterback?

10.) What really happened to Pater Noster High School?
