Chris Williams Takes Over at BP

(Baldwin Park) – Chris Williams, who was an assistant at Gladstone last year, was named the Head Coach at Baldwin Park late last week multiple sources confirmed. Williams takes over for James Heggins who stepped down in February.

Williams served as the offensive coordinator at Wilson under Brian Zavala in 2010 and moved over to Gladstone last season where he coached the running backs and defensive backs. Before going to Wilson Williams was the OC at Workman for five years.

“He is a student of the game. He understands how to attack multiple defensive fronts and he is willing to change depending on the type of athlete,” Zavala said of Williams. “The kids relate to him well and he’s always looking to improve his coaching skills.”

Baldwin Park finished 2-8 last season and out of the playoffs. In 2010 the Braves made the playoffs where they fell to Schurr in the first round. They were 5-6 overall.

If Sterling didn’t want the job and other good coaches didn’t want the job, it makes you wonder what’s really going on at BPHS. It’s a shame…wish the new coach good luck. I hope he leads the team to the playoffs cause if he doesn’t he’ll have a short stay at BP.

Board approval on April 24th, call your school board to complain. No experience as a head coach and kicked out of HLPUsD? The BP team has great potential to win now, not just rebuilding, reloading for this league. They could be really good.

    MideValley,

Remember that Wilson team that you guys thought could have been so good, but ended up only winning a few games.

Chris Williams was the OC and the reason why.

This guy has been nothing but problems every where he has coached. Even at the youth level when he was coaching at LP Warriors.

Amazing zero head coaching experience at any level and now he is a head coach. I wounder if this administration has any clue of this guys history.

They will find out real quick.

Some of these are the same BP people who wouldn’t lift a finger to help Coach Heggins and now are complaining about the guy they hired. Next time get off your butts or keep your mouths shut.

This is the same Chris Williams that has been banned from coaching in the Hacienda La Puente school district.

He won’t last long. There was no teaching position and that’s why he got the job. Better learn how to coach Defense.
