Panthers Undefeated in MVL

By Corey Kwok
(El Monte) – Anthony Parra continued to spearhead the Panthers’ bid in the MVL from the hill, throwing his second complete game and third win in as many starts during league play to affirm Rosemead’s 5-1 victory over El Monte Wednesday.
Marcus Gomez proved the sparking catalyst in it all, beginning with a two run single in the first before a huge two run double in the seventh for the Panthers, who tacked on three in that frame to cut loose from the Lions and pitcher Johnny Alvarez who had tossed five shutout innings from the second to sixth.
Gomez finished 2 for 4 at the plate with a double and four of the Panthers’ five RBI. The other came from Matthew Campos on an RBI double in the seventh. Angel Lopez and Armani Garcia both finished with a hit and two runs, while Oscar Noriega and Dominic Correa rounded out Rosemead’s hit tally with one each.
Rosemead goes for a first round MVL sweep this Friday afternoon at Arroyo, while El Monte seeks to bounce back at Mountain View. Both game times are 3:15 PM.
