Mid Valley Spotlight: San Dimas’ Chris Rufus

San Dimas' Chris Rufus

San Dimas’ Chris Rufus

Chris Rufus, San Dimas, RB/DB, 6-0, 170, Senior

2013 Stats: Rushing: 31-263 yards, 8.48 avg, 5 TD. Receiving: 9-288 yards, 32 yrds per catch, 3 TD.

If he gets in the open field, it’s over. Line up for the extra point. As you can tell by his 32 yards per catch last year, Rufus is as explosive as they come. He’s listed as a running back but make no mistake you’ll also see him line up wide, in the slot and anywhere else offensive guru Bill Zernickow decides to use him. Rufus is the type of player that can change the complexion of a game in an instant. A real homerun hitter if you will. An 80 yard catch for a touchdown and a 65 yard interception return for a score on the next possession and just like that you’re down 14-0. Rufus raised some eyebrows last year. This year you might see DCs design their entire schemes around stopping him. Rufus will have them raising the proverbial roof in San Dimas this year.

Looking his highlights up on Hudl I see he has speed and can move. Reading his stats and watching the way he plays he already thinks at a college level. He is going to be one of the top players known this year in the Valley. I can’t wait to see how this player balls out for his senior year and I hope to see this player at the college level at top notch University where he belongs.

Rufus is a beast. I got to see him play last year and he hits hard…tough kid. He had an amazing kick-off return last year against Arroyo and that for me solidified that he is the real deal…The kid is no joke!

This kid can move. He was a change of pace from the pounding of Martinez and Mayorga last season. His biggest game was against Baldwin Park. Fun to watch and guess where Coach Z is going to use him this year.
