Good Afternoon!

Yeah, I like Christmas music…

“Dont forget that South Hills had most of its success this decade in the lower divison, what have they done since they moved up to this division???”— SGV Football commented on ‘Playoffs this Decade: Southeast’

(check bottom of column for a list of who the Huskies have played)…

This joke was sent to me; Anthony White gets up on Christmas morning and looks around. “So,” he says. “Dan Yoder gets a trip to the playoffs. Monrovia gets a home game against South El Monte, and San Marino gets all the Mid Valley love…What does Temple City get?”

Everyone looks at him and says; “A winning record?”

“No,” White says. “Temple City got hosed!”

Funny.

Last Add Temple City: The last first year head coach who failed to make the playoffs, Jim Walker in 1987, responded to the critics by going to back-to-back semifinals.

Coach White is going to be just fine.

In the office debate rages over Charter Oak quarterback Travis Santiago being a sophomore. The concern being he’s too young to excel in the playoffs…My argument is that you never take sides against The Family…If Don Lou Farrar (& The Family) believe he’s ready, he’s ready. Otherwise they are going to have to straighten you out…

I think the Nets, currently 0-12, will be a lot better when Buck Williams and Albert King come off the injured list. They probably need to get Mike O’Koren the ball a little more, I like his future, the kid can play.

Whatever my thoughts have been about the NBA, I have always enjoyed watching Jason Williams (the little white guy, tatted up, who looks like Opie) pass the ball…He had a sweet wrap around last night for Orlando against Oklahoma City.

Arroyo is 14-20 all time in the first round of the playoffs.

Happy B-Day to current La Salle stud Kishon Sanders, who  is getting ready for a Saturday trip to Santa Maria to play St. Joseph…Also on Saturday night Maranatha, riding an eight game winning streak and the thousand yard legs of Erik Johnson, will host Frazier Mountain.

Note: Last team to beat the Minutemen? The Lancers…

Oh, I’ve always been a Stanford fan…From Steve Dils to Emile Harry to Toby Gerhart…Go Cardinal!

Note to San Gabriel: Sorry, Villathedevil picked you…I tried on Tuesday to relay your concerns about being picked to win by Villathedevil and what it means in regards to outcome…but he’s not budging…

On this date in 2004 Arroyo’s Efrain Oquendo knocked a Santa Ana player into another dimension in the Knights 28-14 win…La Canada’s David Hopkins rushed for 115-yards and two touchdowns in the Spartans 25-7 win over visiting Cabrillo…St. Paul dropped a 77-point bomb on Crescenta Valley, 77-35…and Marquies Winbush scored twice and picked up 197-yards on the ground in South Hills 35-7 victory over Gabrielino.

On this date in 1993 San Marino beat Norwalk 14-6 thanks to a pair of touchdown passes from Dan Loyd to Hugh Horne and Jonathan Oder…In Westco Vincent Boone returned the opening kick-off 97-yards for a touchdown and caught a 51-yard scoring pass from Miguel Meriwether in the Bulldogs 27-10 win over Royal.

And on the same date in 1971 West Covina earned a share of the Sierra League title (with Edgewood) on Tom McKenzie’s 45-yard field goal with 20-seconds left on the clock at Los Altos to beat the Conquerors 24-21…And Rosemead wrapped up the Whitmont League title on Brian Longuevan’s 1-yard run in a 7-6 victory over El Monte at B.L. Bergstrom Stadium.

Since Workman was pulled out of the Valle Vista after the 1997 season and placed in the Montview, the Lobos have not played San Dimas since. Tomorrow night will be the first meeting between the schools in 12 years. (check below for all time results)

The Saints CIF experience a year ago was an extreme from Heaven’s gate to Hell’s flames. SD scored a 67-12 first round victory over Sierra Vista, but lost to Rosemead in the second round 59-22.

Last add San Dimas: Bill Zernickow’s club rushed for over four thousand yards in 2008 (4,081)…This season they have rushed for less than three thousand (2,952)…In 2008 he had a pair of thousand yard backs in Daniel Joseph and Nico Barbone…In 2009 Ryan Kohler is the leading rusher with 966…Last year they posted 552-points and gave up 322…This season they’ve scored 378 points and surrendered just 107. Entering the playoffs a year ago the Saints were 9-1…Entering the playoffs Friday they are 9-1…Plus they have an entirely rebuilt offensive line…

Really last add San Dimas: Anyone want to make coach of the year arguments for Zernickow?

Burroughs and D-Ranch is a toss up…but Keith Knoop could really use a post-season win.

Stay thirsty my friends…
