Friday November 28

La Serna (10-2, Del Rio #2) at Crescenta Valley (12-0, Pacific #1)

Margarito Beltran has to be a Coach of the Year candidate. The Lancers just keep on winning even when they’re not supposed to. Crescenta Valley keeps on winning as well. In fact the Falcons have never lost. Some thought CV would slow down once the playoffs began, but the Falcons haven’t skipped a beat outscoring their two opponents 77-28. La Serna won’t get blown out- a Beltran team never does. But they will have trouble keeping up. A shootout favors Crescenta Valley. Falcons advance to the Final.

Salesian (6-6, Angelus at large) at Downey (9-3, SGV #1)

Can the Salesian magic continue? It’s hard to believe that it could but it’s also hard to believe the Mustangs are still standing in the semis. In case you haven’t noticed Downey hasn’t lost since September. The Viking are doing the things you need to do to win. They run the ball, play defense and have, for the most part avoided turnovers. Salesian isn’t the same team it was in August but neither is Downey. Contrary to popular Downey fans opinion I have picked the Vikings to win in five of the last seven games. I’m picking them again.
