(Glendora) -AJ Bigornia scored 31 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter to lead Glendora to a 70-58 win over Bonita Friday night in the Palomares League opener.

Bigornia hit six threes and was a perfect nine for nine from the free throw line while also directing traffic for Glendora from the point guard position. Brandon Brothers was the only other Tartan in double figures with 13. Bonita, down by ten after three, cut the lead to six early in the fourth. But Bigornia hit another one from the land of plenty and then proceeded to bury eight straight free throws down the stretch to hold off the Bearcats. Glendora was 12 for 15 from the line in the final period.

Glendora came out smoking early with 23 points in the first quarter as Brothers and Bigornia combined for 13 points. Glendora cooled off in the second but still led 33-28 at the half. Kyle Bracy hit a couple of big baskets for the Tartans in the third quarter as Glendora outscored Bonita 15-10 to go up by double figures.

The Bearcats seemed on the verge of a run in the fourth as Tyler Poepping nailed a three and Joe Quintana had a pair of buckets and six points in the quarter. But Glendora always had an answer and stemmed the tide.

The Bearcats had four players in double figures. Poepping and Quintana each had 13, Russell Hernandez had 12, including a pair of threes, and Kyle Gray added 10. Bracy finished with nine for Glendora and Robbie Miller was hot early and sored seven-all in the first quarter.

Glendora hit seven three pointers overall compared to five for Bonita. Poepping hit three from beyond the arc. Glendora had a big edge in free throws 21-7. With the victory Glendora improved to  14-2 overall while Bonita fell to 14-3.
