Friday

Almont League

Alhambra (4-5, 2-2) at Montebello (8-1, 4-0)

The Moors are in a must win situation if they want to keep hope up for the post season. The Oilers have already locked up the Almont and a playoff berth. Oilers continue to gain momentum.

Miramonte League

(6-3, 1-2) Ganesha at Garey (1-8, 0-3)

With a win the Giants can improve their record to 7-3 and have an outside shot at the post season. The Vikings would love to play spoiler but just aren’t equipped to do so.

Mission Valley League

Arroyo (7-2, 5-0) at Rosemead (5-4, 5-0)

You hear us at the Mid Valley talk about fate-of-the-world type games and this is one of them. The MVL crown is on the line, bragging rights for the neighboring cities, playoff seedings etc. And, a win or loss could shape the future of these two programs maybe more than ever before!

El Monte (4-5, 2-3) at Mt. View (4-5, 1-4)

How bad to the Lions want a chance at post season? A win will get El Monte to 5-5 and with a little help from Gabrielino, a technical tie for 3rd in the MVL. It’s doubtful the playoff gods will take a 3rd place MVL team but hope is there. The Vikings need a win to bring back some of the confidence lost in the loss to South El Monte.

Montview League

Azusa (3-6, 3-1) at Sierra Vista (4-5, 2-2)

A second place finish and guaranteed entry into the post season is on the line for the Aztecs and Dons. Win and you’re in, lose and you get to stay home and watch the grass grow! (Unless you school has field turf and then…well, you get the picture)

Azusa 23 Sierra Vista 21

Gold Coast Leagues

Sierra Canyon (9-0, 2-0) at Paraclete (5-4, 2-0) at Antelope Valley College

It’s a battle of Mid Valley Division titans when the Trailblazers and Spirits go helmet to helmet Friday night. Paraclete wants to prove their 5-4 record is deceiving while Sierra Canyon wants to show they are undefeated for a reason. Can Niko Harris and Co. overcome the cold temperatures of Lancaster? Yes the can!

Sierra Canyon 27 Paraclete 24

Viewpoint (5-4,1-1) at Brentwood (6-3, 1-1)

The Patriots took a week off to lick their wounds after getting torched by Paraclete and need the win to get into post season. A win for the Eagles will avenge an earlier loss to Viewpoint and a 7-3 record will look good for the Eagles when playoff wildcard teams are announced.

Viewpoint 35 Brentwood 28

Valle Vista League

Northview (8-1, 4-0) vs Covina (6-3, 3-1) at Covina District Field

Even with a loss a third place Colt team in the Valle Vista has a good shot at post season but that’s not the way Covina wants to finish the season. A win would mean a technical three-way tie. That task will be most difficult as the Vikings are playing good football right now and want to lock up their second straight league title.

Northview 41 Covina 27
